Taco Bell Employee Celebrates Her 92nd Birthday
One Taco Bell employee celebrates her 92nd birthday on Wednesday. Florence Pedraza plans to celebrate it by staying active and seeing the people who matter most to her during her shift.
So how does a Taco Bell employee live to see their 90s? Pedraza says the key to a long life is by working hard, according to the Daily Record. Pedraza works hard at the Ellensburg, Washington, Taco Bell Monday through Friday part-time.
Pedraza started working at Taco Bell 20 years ago in 1995 when it first opened. She has seen many faces pass through its doors, but Pedraza seems to have withstood the test of time. As the Taco Bell employee celebrates her 92nd birthday, she recalls the years she has spent working at the fast-food restaurant.
“I knew the gal that was going to be manager of it at the time,” Pedraza remembered. “A lot of different people come through. I think I’ve gone through four or five different crews since I’ve been here.”
Not only has she seen employees come and go, but she’s seen customers pass through the doors of Taco Bell as well.
“I have a lot of people that stop and drive through just because I’m here. They’re from other towns, places, other states. I’ve gone through kids from the time they start high school to the time they graduate. A lot of the time they’ll come back a few years later after they graduate to see if I’m still here.”
Before she worked at Taco Bell, Pedraza worked as a sheriff’s deputy for 20 years. She retired from the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office permanently in 1990 after two other attempts to retire always had Pedraza coming back for more.
Now she spends her time at Taco Bell as a cashier or cleaning up the lobby for about four hours each day. Pedraza said, “It’s just a fun place to work.”
When the Taco Bell employee celebrates her 92nd birthday on Wednesday, she hopes she will get to see her granddaughter and some of her great-grandchildren.
“I want to live to 100,” Pedraza told the Daily Record.
Pedraza plans to be at Taco Bell on her birthday. If you happen to be in the area on Wednesday, say “Happy birthday” to Florence.
