Sandra Bullock’s Shoes Raise $85,000 For Charity

Actress Sandra Bullock is as famed for her beauty as she is for her acting roles. Sandra’s latest role is as the voice of arch-villain Scarlett Overkill in the animated movie Minions, but Bullock has demonstrated once again that the real-life Sandra Bullock is as likable and generous as it is possible to be. The 50-year-old actress has not just added her voice to the movie, Sandra has kept the movie’s premier weekend in the headlines and raised a huge sum of money for charity in the process.

According to Vogue, Bullock helped to keep the launch of Minions in the news by offering 10-pairs of Minions inspired shoes, designed by Rupert Sanderson, for auction with all of the proceeds going to the charity Art & Practice. Art & Practice is an L.A. based charity that sets out to empower foster youth and strengthen communities by providing education and practical skills and be stressing the importance of art and culture in a wider social context.

The auction of Bullocks shoes raised $42,425 and according to People Sandra showed her support for the project by digging deeply into her own pocket to match the amount raised. As a result Bullock raised $84,850 for the project which will use the much needed funds to help fund their social service and art programs in L.A. Individually Sandra’s shoes sold for up to $4,850 a pair.

Speaking about her support for the project Bullock said that “when you discover people who are truly giving back, and taking care of our community, I think it’s our duty to support and take care of them in return.”

All of Bullock’s shoes were individually autographed by the actress. Sandra had caused quite a stir when she wore the shoes for the first time at the London Premiere of Minions back in June.

Bullock’s performance in Minions has helped the movie to hit second place in box-office takings for the opening weekend of an animated movie. Minions took over $115 million over its opening weekend leaving it just behind Shrek The Third in the all time listing and it was the highest grossing movie of the weekend. It is believed that Minions has already taken a further $125 million worldwide.

According to the BBC Minions is the first animated role that Bullock has undertaken for over 17-years. Sandra has admitted that she took the role because she wanted to “do something” that her 5-year-old adopted son Louis could see her in.
