Christian Audigier Gone, But Would Be Fondly Remembered


The world, especially the fashion industry, has been hit with the sad news of the demise of the renowned designer, Christian Audigier, at the age of 57. As stated in a recent Inquisitr article, he was the designer who is most famous for his work with Ed Hardy.

Christian Audigier, who is one of France’s few renowned designers to have gained international recognition is reported to have died of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), which is also known as bone marrow failure disorder at the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday, July 10, 2015.

It was previously announced that Audigier had been battling cancer back in April. Michele Elyzabeth, who worked as his publicist for years, confirmed the loss to LATF USA

Christian Audigier was a renowned, innovative, and creative designer who made waves with his Ed Hardy and Von Dutch clothing line. In the early 2000s he become so famous that celebrities and fashion-loving people all over the world were patronizing his products.

It is reported by David Colker that Christian Audigier used his connections with celebrities to promote his brand of clothing: trucker hats, rhinestone-studded T-shirts, and a variety of other flamboyant products.

Some of the world’s great celebrities who were mentioned to his products include Madonna, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Ashton Kutcher, Justin Timberlake, David Beckham, Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, and a host of others.

It is reported that in 2009, sales of Christian Audigier’s clothing line earned him $700 million globally, and his net worth was around $200 million.

Audigier told TMZ in January that he was battling with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), which is also known as “bone marrow failure disorder,” and had a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy in March this year.

Christian Audigier, like most designers, have their challenges due to the changing trends of fashion and the heavy competition, so his success didn’t last. It is reported that Audigier then started working on clothing lines for brands like American Eagle Outfitters, Bisou Bisou, Diesel, Guess, Levi, and XOXO, but he later became notorious for his Ed Hardy and Von Dutch collections.

Christian Audigier died leaving behind the wife, two sons and a daughter. He will be remembered and greatly missed for his wonderful contribution to the world of fashion.
