‘Just Cause 3’ Collector’s Edition Offers Fans A Grappling Hook-Up

After asking the gaming community to vote on its contents, Square Enix has officially unveiled the winning collectibles for the Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition. Winning the spotlight with the most votes is a 15-inch replica display of Rico’s iconic grappling hook. The collection has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $109.99 and is now available for pre-order at participating retailers in North America.

In addition to the grappling hook replica, the Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition also includes a 32-page hardcover art book and a poster map of Medici, the game’s fictitious Mediterranean archipelago setting. The physical copy of the game packaged inside the Collector’s Edition is a Day One Edition, which includes an exclusive weaponized vehicle digital content pack. Most retailers are offering a guaranteed copy of the Day One Edition as a pre-order bonus for standard edition copies of Just Cause 3.

Some of the collectibles that did not make the cut include a Just Cause 3 branded backpack, a remote control helicopter, a nine-inch Rico statue, and dioramas of Rico in various action poses. Senior Product Marketing Manager, Damian Garcia, notes the grappling hook replica completely won over fans during the voting process.

“Much like the high-octane action of Just Cause 3, we wanted to give fans a Collector’s Edition that speaks to their breed of fun… Out of all the items we offered, the grappling hook was by far the most popular, and the fans made a solid choice to elevate this collection.”

As is often the case with collectible editions, some retailers have already sold out shortly after the announcement. As of this writing, amazon.com shows the Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition as “currently unavailable” for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the option to opt-in to an email notification if and when more product stock becomes available. GameStop and the official Square Enix Online Store, however, still have the Collector’s Edition listed as available for pre-order.

Although the grappling hook included in the Collector’s Edition is for display purposes only, Square Enix gave Just Cause 3 fans the opportunity to live a moment in Rico’s shoes at The Square Enix Experience in downtown San Diego during Comic-Con. According to the official Square Enix blog, the Just Cause 3 interactive exhibit put fans at the top of a 40-foot tower and sent them down a 150-foot zip-line with a rifle. Players were tasked to take out marked targets along the way and compete for leaderboard rankings.

Just Cause 3 is scheduled for a global release on December 1, 2015, and will be playable on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
