Ann Coulter Vs. Geraldo Rivera: Right-Left Debate Gets Personal

Ann Coulter and Geraldo Rivera battled over Donald Trump’s controversial comments on illegal immigrants on the July 9 edition of the Fox News show Hannity.

Host Sean Hannity started the ball rolling by showing Geraldo a group of statistics that 36,000 illegal immigrants released back into the general population in 2013 had committed 193 murders, amassed 426 sexual assault convictions, and 303 kidnapping convictions.

Geraldo tried arguing that it was 193 murders out of the 30 million population of illegal immigrants before Hannity corrected him.

“No, this is just the 36,000 that committed those murders,” Hannity said.

Geraldo then tried countering with a Washington Post story that argued crimes committed by illegal immigrants was “about the same” as that of the general population.

That’s about the point Ann Coulter jumped in and argued that it shouldn’t be “about the same” or even “somewhat less.”

“We want zero criminals,” she said, asking why the U.S. would want to release criminals back into its population.

She also pointed out that in California, most of the prison population is Hispanic, noting that only 25 percent of prisoners are white and the state as a whole is only 6 percent black.

“So what are you saying, Geraldo? That 75 percent of the California prison population is black? Of course not.”

Coulter also noted that many illegal immigrants are on government assistance, which she said was “crazy.”

“That is meant for our poor people, and that includes our Hispanic poor people and black poor people. We have to care about our own,” she said, not illegal immigrants.

Rivera continued to insist that Ann Coulter and Hannity were putting out a blanket attack on Hispanics, citing the title of Coulter’s new book, Adios, America!, which he claimed was an “ipso facto attack” on Hispanics, according to Fox News Insider.

Here is the full bell-to-bell skirmish. Who do you think won?

This isn’t the first time Ann Coulter has gone toe-to-toe with someone on Fox News. In fact, the last time the Inquisitr reported on one of her battles, it was with Hannity himself.

In a surprising move, Coulter appeared on noted atheist and liberal Bill Maher’s HBO talk show and even counted Hannity’s arch-nemesis as one of her “close” friends. While she continued to disagree with Bill Maher’s politics, she did stand her ground on her affection for the man.

Hannity said of Maher, “It seems like he’s more angry, more bitter, more liberal, more hateful.”

Maher also noted that he didn’t want to “spend a lot of time on him because he gets too much attention.”

Ann Coulter cut in with the reply, “From you!” and then joked that “you want me to have no other friends than you, Sean Hannity.”

“I obviously don’t believe in his politics, I like him, he’s a true and loyal friend, he always has been” she said, plus, “he bought me dinner, so I’m not going to say anything bad about it … I’m easy. I’m a cheap date.”
