‘Invicta FC 13: Cyborg Vs. Van Duin’ UFC Fight Pass Results — Updated LIVE!

Today, July 9, 2015, Invicta Fighting Championships (Invicta FC) will present Invicta FC 13: Cyborg vs. Van Duin, only through the UFC Fight Pass. The event will take place in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas located in Las Vegas, Nevada. For those who are unable to attend the fight live, it can be viewed on the UFC Fight Pass for $9.99 for the month-to-month subscription. Other subscriptions are cheaper overall but require either a six-month or one-year commitment.

What makes this premiere event special is the fact Cristiane Justino, also known as “Cris Cyborg,” will be defending her title in her last fight in Invicta FC. Win or lose, Cyborg will jump to UFC to start her journey to take on Ronda Rousey, a match MMA fans have wished for for many years. The Inquisitr has previously reported on Cyborg, and some of those stories are listed below.

  • Cris Cyborg officially signs a contract with UFC. Is Ronda Rousey’s reign doomed?
  • Cris Cyborg wants to fight Ronda Rousey at a catchweight of 140 pounds in a “champion vs. champion” match, just to see who is the best once and for all.
  • Ronda Rousey is giving Cris Cyborg two years to get her weight down to 135 pounds for the bantamweight division. After that, Rousey is moving on.
  • Miesha Tate states she would fight Cris Cyborg at a catchweight of 140 pounds if UFC were to make it happen.
  • Cris Cyborg wants to fight Miesha Tate, at a catchweight of 140 pounds, as her first official match in UFC.

As shown from the articles above, there is much chatter among the MMA community on what will happen once Cris Cyborg makes the jump to UFC. If Cyborg does win, she is retiring as champion (in which she is technically undefeated in Invicta FC). Other fights of interest includes Tonya Evinger vs. Irene Aldana for the vacant Invicta FC Bantamweight Championship, and Herica Tiburcio vs. Ayaka Hamasaki for the Invicta FC Atomweight Championship.

The results of the main fight card will be shown below as they become available. This is a live-updating article so for those who are unable to watch the pay-per-view, you can use this article as a means to find out the latest results. Please note that due to online limitations, only the overall result shall be posted live with a fight synopsis detailed after the pay-per-view.

Main Card (UFC Fight Pass – 11 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST)

Marina Shafir vs. Amber Leibrock – Shafir (Moldova) is 1-1-0. Leibrock (USA) is making her debut in Invicta FC in this match. They are fighting in the Featherweight Division.

  • SYNOPSIS: The fight starts out with both fighters equally sizing each other until Amber Leibrock knocks down Marina Shafir. Leibrock continues to ground-and-pound Shafir who for some reason refuses to cover-up. Instead, Shafir tries to lock in a leg submission, a decision that grants Leibrock the TKO win in her Invicta FC debut.
  • RESULTS: Amber Leibrock defeats Marina Shafir via TKO, 37 seconds in the first round.

Amy Montenegro vs. Jamie Moyle – Montenegro (USA) is 6-1-0. Moyle (USA) is undefeated at 2-0-0. They are fighting in the Strawweight Division.

  • SYNOPSIS: This fight was like a showcase of different styles. In the first round, Brazilian jiu jitsu. In the second round, kickboxing. In the third, a mix of both. Nevertheless, the fact that Jamie Moyle did a phenomenal defending against numerous submission attempts, connected with a lot of right hands, and even locked in an armbar submission at one point in the first round (though Amy Montenegro escaped) are factors why she won. Montenegro was able to tag Moyle too with some strong knees and elbows in the clinch, which may have caused the decision to be split instead of unanimous.
  • RESULTS: Jamie Moyle defeats Amy Montenegro via Split Decision in the third (final) round.

Amber Brown vs. Catherine Costigan – Brown (USA) is 4-1-0. Costigan (Republic of Ireland) is undefeated at 5-0-0. They are fighting in the Atomweight Division.

  • SYNOPSIS: Amber Brown dominates this fight once she gets Catherine Costigan on the ground. Costigan is able to sparingly defend herself against Brown’s strikes and elbows. But the fact Costigan is flat on her back and Brown is sitting high on her makes it difficult for Costigan to escape. It is when Costigan gives her back to Brown that the fight is over once Brown locks in a rear-naked choke for the submission win.
  • RESULTS: Amber Brown defeats Catherine Costigan via Submission with a Rear-Naked Choke, 3:34 in the first round.

Pannie Kianzad vs. Jessica-Rose Clark – Kianzard (Sweden) is undefeated at 7-0-0. Clark (Australia) is 5-1-0. They are fighting in the Bantamweight Division.

  • SYNOPSIS: Pannie Kianzad dominated in all three rounds in this fight. When Kianzad threw fisticuffs, she tagged Jessica-Rose Clark numerous times, especially a beautiful right jab straight in Clark’s face as a counter to a kick. Kianzad also did great job on the ground too. At one time, Kianzad was able to put Clark in a headlock with her legs. Let’s not forget the time Kianzad got Clark in a reverse high-mount. I don’t think anyone will forget that “Banzai Drop.”
  • RESULTS: Pannie Kianzad defeats Jessica-Rose Clark via Unanimous Decision in the third (final) round.

Herica Tiburcio vs. Ayaka Hamasaki (Invicta FC Atomweight Championship Fight) – Tiburcio (Brazil) is 9-2-0 and the Invicta FC Atomweight Champion. Hamasaki (Japan) is 11-1-0. They are fighting in the Atomweight Division for the Invicta FC Atomweight Championship.

  • SYNOPSIS: This fight was evenly matched, but it was Ayaka Hamasaki’s multiple takedowns and ground game that probably gave her the win. Hamasaki’s wrestling was very good and for the majority of the time when both fighters were on the ground, Hamasaki was in control. There were two times when Hamasaki would have lost to Herica Tiburcio. The first time is when Hamasaki was locked into a guillotine choke in the first round albeit not a good one. The second time was when Tiburcio almost locked in a rear-naked choke when she took Hamasaki’s back near the end of the third round. It should be noted those two times when Hamasaki almost lost may be the reason why the decision was split and not unanimous.
  • RESULTS: Ayaka Hamasaki defeats Herica Tiburcio via Split Decision in the fifth (final) round to become the new Invicta FC Atomweight Champion.

Tonya Evinger vs. Irene Aldana (Invicta FC Bantamweight Championship Fight) – Evinger (USA) is 14-6-0. Aldana (Mexico) is 5-1-0. They are fighting in the Bantamweight Division for the vacant Invicta FC Bantamweight Championship.

  • SYNOPSIS: It is safe to say that Tonya Evinger dominated the fight. Most of the time, Irene Aldana was on her back doing her best to defend herself against Evinger’s ground and pound. At one time, Evinger locked in an armbar on Aldana in which the latter escaped. But in the end, Aldana could not handle the relentless onslaught Evinger brought resulting in a TKO win.
  • RESULTS: Tonya Evinger defeats Irene Aldana via TKO, 4:38 in the fourth round to become the Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino vs. Faith Van Duin (Invicta FC Featherweight Championship Fight) – Cyborg (Brazil) is 13-1-1 and the Invicta FC Featherweight Champion. Van Duin (New Zealand) is 5-1-0. They are fighting in the Featherweight Division for the Invicta FC Featherweight Championship.

  • SYNOPSIS: The match was over before it even started. Cris Cyborg’s strike game rocked Faith Van Duin. However it was Cyborg’s knee to the liver that got Van Duin down for Cyborg to initiate ground and pound for the TKO win early in the first round.
  • RESULTS: Cris Cyborg defeats Faith Van Duin via TKO, 45 seconds in the first round to retain (possibly retire) with the Invicta FC Featherweight Champion.
