Robert Pattinson Talks ‘Twilight’ Experience With Ex-Girlfriend Kristen Stewart: ‘It’s Changed Now’

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may have come a long way since their days in the romance/fantasy film Twilight, however, Pattinson is now taking time to reflect on how far his career has come since taking part in the highly successful franchise.

In an interview with Total Film, Pattinson opens up about his experiences as an actor prior to reaching superstardom for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in the internationally successful film franchise. While the films have certainly opened up more than a few doors for Pattinson’s career, Robert admits that his desire to be an actor has changed since he reached celebrity status.

“It’s changed a little bit now. Since I’ve become an actor, most people don’t want to admit it. When I was just auditioning absolutely everyone was. It’s crazy. But when you get to a certain point, no one really wants to admit it anymore. People just want to say they’re a waiter! That’s way cooler! I’m not trying to be an actor, I just want to be a waiter for the rest of my life.”

In addition, Pattinson opens up about his and Kristen Stewart’s lack of experience with fame, admitting that he and his now ex-girlfriend had “no idea” what was going on during press conferences and interviews for Twilight.

“All my experience…I had no idea what was going on when Twilight first started taking off. When we were doing interviews, I’d never done a press junket. I was like, ‘What?’ You just sit in a room and talk s*** for eight hours! I was telling jokes. Every day my manager was getting calls from the studio going, ‘You have to tell him to shut up!’ Also, I had nothing to lose.”

Kristen Stewart has made similar comments about her experience with the Twilight franchise in the past; the actress most recently reflected on her “epic” sex scene with ex Pattinson during her interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK.

Speaking on the scene, which occurred in the 2011 film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I, Stewart admits that she and Pattinson both felt pressured to deliver the most “otherworldly” sex scene of all time.

“I only hate them when they’re contrived. That’s when it’s grotesquely uncomfortable. On Twilight we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine, and we were like, ‘How do we live up to that?'”

Despite Stewart and Pattinson’s real-life romance at the time, the actress admitted that it was “agony” to try and force the love scene between Edward and Bella, noting that it “sucks, because I wanted it to be so good.”

While Robert and Kristen have parted ways romantically since their days in Twilight, it appears both actors have similar feelings towards the franchise that shot them to superstardom nearly seven years ago.

Currently, Robert Pattinson is engaged to “Two Weeks” singer FKA Twigs, and Kristen Stewart has made headlines for an alleged romance with Alicia Cargile, although it has yet to be confirmed.
