Michelle Collins Joins ‘The View’ — So Just Who Is This New Co-Host?
Comedian Michelle Collins, who has long been rumored to be Rosie Perez’ replacement on The View, has been a frequent guest on the show. But now that, according to the Hollywood Reporter, she’s officially a full-time co-host, viewers are wondering just who she is.
Collins, who turns 34 on Thursday, has steadily been making a name for herself through stand-up comedy, social media, and basic cable. The self-described “giant” (Collins is over six feet tall) has credits both behind the camera — producing, writing — and in front of it. On her own website, Michelle gives a suitably snarky summary of her career.
“Michelle Collins is a writer, comedian, and self-described giant (personality!) She is a producer and frequent guest on Kathy!, the Kathy Griffin talk show airing on Bravo. Before clipping her bangs, she spent 6 years as the Managing Editor of VH1’s Best Week Ever website, which garnered her two Webby Awards for Best Celebrity/Fan Blog. She put one of them on the hood of her Mercury Milan.”
In fact, she also had a small hosting role on the BWE website, interviewing guests for the segment “Martini Minute,” according to the New York Daily News. Some of those guests included New Kids on the Block, Jessica Simpson, and Adam Lambert.

Collins has also had a few other gigs on VH-1, including hosting countdown shows here and there, and acting as a driver on Walk of Shame Shuttle –– where celebrity drivers pick up hung-over college students after a night of partying and give them a ride, and a bottle of water, for $5. The show promises “no judgment” and a “complimentary high-five.”

Michelle also has an extensive list of TV credits beyond VH-1, including guest spots on Kathy Griffin’s show Kathy, as well as The Joy Behar Show, The Tyra Banks Show, Chelsea Lately, and Big Morning Buzz With Nick Lachey.
Collins’ new job on The View is the latest in a series of shakeups to hit the venerable talk fest this season. On Wednesday’s episode, former host Rosie Perez tearfully said goodbye to her former co-hosts and welcomed both Raven-Symoné and Michelle Collins.
