Slipknot Singer Corey Taylor To Kanye West: ‘Stop It!’ [Video]

There has been much controversy over Kanye West’s appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, including petitions to have Kanye replaced by a rock band, but drawing possibly more criticism is West’s contention that he is the “greatest living rock star on the planet.”

Fans attending the Glastonbury Festival weren’t the only ones to take exception with West’s claim. Slipknot’s frontman, Corey Taylor, found the statement ridiculous enough that he recorded a video response. Slipknot’s Taylor responds aggressively in the video in essence challenging West to respond to Corey.

“Kanye, you are not the greatest living rockstar of all-time. The fact that you had to tell people that kind of says it all,” Taylor said, addressing Kanye through a Music Choice video. “You remind me of the guy bragging about p—y, who doesn’t get as much as they brag about. Stop it.”

Even before the festival that prompted so much controversy took place, other genuine rock music performers came forward to voice their own opinions about West’s awkward appearance at Glastonbury. Among them was Dave Grohl, frontman for the Foo Fighters.

“I don’t know that much about Kanye’s music but right now Kanye vs. Glastonbury is about as close to that old school [clashing] vibe as you’re going to get,” he said. “I don’t know who the dude is that started the petition but I think every one of those votes is only fueling Kanye’s f—ing fire and it could be the greatest show of all time.”

“It could be a f—ing disaster. It could be Altamont,” Grohl continued. “And that s–t doesn’t happen very often. It’s exciting man.”

Corey Taylor, who serves as lead singer for both Slipknot and Stone Sour, was promoting the release of his new book, You’re Making Me Hate You, when he took the time to respond to West’s claims.

The full title of Corey Taylor’s book is You’re Making Me Hate You: A Cantankerous Look at the Common Misconception That Humans Have Any Common Sense Left and is available online.

“Funny, profane, blasphemous, and above all right on target, You’re Making Me Hate You is pure Corey Taylor unleashed, exposing the underbelly of human depravity in all its ragged glory.”

Corey Taylor recently pointed out in a previous “Ask Me Anything” session with Reddit users that he is a fan of rap music in general, so there must be something specific about Kanye West that irked the Slipknot singer. In the A.M.A. session, Taylor mentioned Dr. Dre, Eminem, Jay-Z, and Public Enemy as favorite rap artists and mentioned an interest in collaborating with Eminem.
