Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner Divorce: Couple Still Plans To Live Together, Plus The ‘Batman V Superman’ Star Said To Be Leaning On BFF Matt Damon

Despite officially splitting up after ten years of marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are reportedly going to continue to live together in their massive California estate. According to ABC News, the couple made the decision to remain in the same house for their kids.

The news comes after the pair went on a vacation to the Bahamas with their three children. “The trip was really a chance for them to be with their children, be together as a family [and to] keep everybody out of the spotlight,” Kate Hogan, an editor for People, explained.

As both Affleck and Garner continue their careers in film and move on with their lives, there are some benefits to living together after a divorce.

“The benefits of living in the same house if you are separated are that you have familiarity,” Dr. Janet Taylor, a psychiatrist from New York City, told ABC News.

“And certainly for your children, they hopefully will have the opportunity of seeing you work something out even when it’s difficult.”

Taylor added that divorce doesn’t always mean a terrible breakup that destroys the family. “In many ways, again, this divorce doesn’t have to be that, you know, the doors are shut … Work it out in a way that doesn’t destroy you, destroy your partner or destroy your children.”

With both stars moving forward with their lives after announcing their split, Ben Affleck is leaning on Matt Damon for support. Damon and Affleck have been friends since the two first met, all the way back when the two were in high school together. Not to mention writing that little Oscar-winning movie, Good Will Hunting, rogether.

“In the same way Jen is turning to her friends, for a long time, Ben has reached out to Matt, who is a true touch point for him,” an inside source told People.

“He’s a solid friend and this has been a long separation and not easy, and a lot of people would leave after a separation.”

The source went on to add that the two stars have a close bond, and Matt’s friendship has proven invaluable to Affleck as he goes through this tough phase in his life.

“They have a bond,” the source explained. “Few people know Ben better than Matt, and that is really invaluable.”

Meanwhile, Garner is working in Atlanta on her new movie, Miracles from Heaven, while Ben Affleck is expected to attend Comic-Con in San Diego this year for his role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
