Boba Fett, Obi Wan, And Han: ‘Star Wars’ Anthology Film Slate Leaks Ahead Of SDCC
Star Wars fans are no doubt racked with anticipation ahead of Disney/Lucasfilm’s Friday presentation at San Diego Comic Con, and some big Star Wars news leaked early on Wednesday to whet their appetites. If the latest sneak peek turns out to be real, we’ve now got an idea of the names and main characters that will be at the center of the latter two Star Wars Anthology movies — and they’re some big names.
As with just about everything else Star Wars, Disney has kept the Star Wars Anthology leaks to a minimum, giving fans only a glimpse here or there of what the company plans to do outside of the main Star Wars saga. Now, though, Indie Revolver has posted what appears to be a photo snapped during a rundown of Disney/Lucasfilm’s forthcoming Friday presentation on the future of the Star Wars franchise.
In addition to the already announced Star Wars Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, and Star Wars: Rogue One, the leaked picture says that the remaining Star Wars Anthology movies will focus on Luke Skywalker’s mentor, Obi Wan Kenobi, and fan favorites Han Solo and Boba Fett.
The Kenobi-focused Anthology installment would appear to come first – after Star Wars: Rogue One and Episode VII, but before Episode IX. Its title: Star Wars – Kenobi: The Balance of the Force.
The Han Solo/Boba Fett-focused Star Wars Anthology installment would come the year after Episode IX, although it does not appear that Lucasfilm has decided on a name for that feature quite yet, as its place card simply reads “Star Wars Fett/Solo Anthology.”
The appearance of Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars Anthology movie was predicted by some reports that emerged on Tuesday of this week, though the reports weren’t exactly surprising. The roguish Solo is, of course, one of the most popular characters in Star Wars lore, and the appearance of the character in the previews for the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VII elicited cheers from all of the Force Fandom.
Those prior reports had The Lego Movie directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord signing on to direct a Solo-focused Star Wars spinoff. It now appears that that Solo film might not be quite so solo, as it may well be a flick more focused on Solo and his nemesis, Boba Fett.
What remains to be seen now, though – assuming this photo is accurate in its predictions – is which actors Disney/Lucasfilm will cast to fill these iconic roles.
