Oreo Thins: New Low-Calorie Snack Slammed, Mocked On Twitter
Meet Oreo Thins — the slight makeover to the popular snack cookies, Oreos.
The new version of the classic snack choice was recently announced by Mondelez International, Inc. as a confirmed addition to the Nabisco family.
According to the Daily Mail, Oreo Thins are very similar to the traditional Oreo cookie, especially since the cookie size-filling ratio reportedly remains the same. The major difference, as implied by the snack’s name, is that Oreo Thins are much slimmer.

One of the major perks of the smaller size of Oreo Thins is the calorie count. The Daily Mail reports that four Oreo Thins contain 140 calories in comparison to the 160 calories consumed in only three regular Oreo cookies.
As seen from some of the reactions on Twitter, the lower calorie count of Oreo Thins will not stop everyone from craving the taste of the thicker Double and Triple Stuff versions of the popular cookies.

If I took these new Oreo Thins and combined them with Double Stuf Oreos, would I get the normal Oreo that nature intended?

Oreo thins just mean I’ll go through 3 packages of Oreos instead of 1 in one sitting.

Multiple reports confirm that the target market for Oreo Thins is not young children. On the contrary, this “sophisticated” snack is reportedly for adults – which is why they were not designed to be twisted and dunked in milk.
Janda Lukin, the senior director of Oreo for North America at Mondelez International, claims that “if people want to do that, it’s clearly up to them.”
In her own words, she stated that if regular Oreos were pancakes, Oreo Thins would be crepes.
Even with all of the confirmed benefits of Oreo Thins, it seems that quite a few consumers are skeptical and reluctant about giving the newly modified cookies a chance.
According to Mondelez International, Oreo Thins will become a permanent addition to their growing brand family of snacks next week. Only time will tell if these low-calorie snacks will be a big hit or disappointing miss for the brand.
