Pearl Harbor Trends On Twitter After U.S. World Cup Win
Fans took to Twitter to celebrate U.S. World Cup win after a comprehensive 5-2 victory against Asian rivals Japan. However, that also resulted in Pearl Harbor becoming one of the top trends among Twitter users after the U.S. World Cup win.
Pearl Harbor remains one of the deadliest attacks in U.S. history and led directly to the American entry into World War II. A series of tweets made light of the attack and the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, which led to the defeat of the Japanese empire.
Hey Japan, that one was for Pearl Harbor. U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A.

However, many fans chastised the fans who made light of Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima.
"jokes" about bombing, pearl harbor and racist remarks were never funny on the first place why can't y'all just watch the game and cheer ?

Pro tip: that Pearl Harbor tweet you're typing up…don't send it, keep that to yourself, you heathen.

Fans also mocked U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo after the 33-year-old picked up the Golden Gloves award for her performance throughout the tournament. Fans made fun of Solo’s history of domestic abuse, comparing the athlete’s situation to that of Ray Rice.
If it makes you uncomfortable when I call Brittney Griner or Hope Solo a domestic abuser & not focus on court/field, remember equality

I can't imagine the relief Hope Solo's husband felt when the US women's soccer team won. Don't have to walk on egg shells tonight.
