Bollywood Actress Meenakshi Thapar Kidnapped By Costars, Beheaded

Meenakshi Thapar, a Bollywood actress who was in the middle of filming her new movie, “Heroine,” was kidnapped and killed by two of her co-stars.

The Huffington Post reports that Amit Jaiswal, 36, and his lover Preeti Surin, kidnapped Thapar in an attempt to extort money from her family. Thapar, 26, was strangled and then beheaded by her two alleged kidnappers.

The New York Daily News reports that Jaiswal and Surin had overheard Thapar bragging about her family’s wealth on the set of “Heroine.” The two kidnapped the actress and then sent threatening messages to her mother. The kidnappers reportedly said that they would force Thapar to make pornographic videos if their demands weren’t met.

Jaiswal and Surin demanded 1,500,000-rupee (approximately $28,000) but Thapar’s mother only paid 60,000 rupees (just over $1,000).

The kidnappers decided that the payment wasn’t enough and decided to kill Thapar by beheading her. The Telegraph writes:

“She was strangled to death, beheaded, and her body was dumped at two different sites as her killers made their way back to Mumbai. Her torso was dumped in a water tank and her head thrown out of the bus window in a bag on the road to Mumbai.”

The two were arrested after they were caught with Thapar’s cellphone and have reportedly confessed to the murder.
