Simon Cowell’s Mother Dies, Cowell ‘Heartbroken’ Over The Death

Simon Cowell’s mother has died. The American Idol judge’s mother passed away on Saturday after a stroke. Cowell’s mother, Julie Brett, was 89-years-old. It’s said that after she had a stroke she was in a London hospital, which is where she died.

Simon Cowell, who was gearing up for X Factor auditions to start, is suffering from the heartbreaking loss. The Cowell family released a statement.

“Today our beloved mum Julie passed away. Anyone who had met her would know what a truly special and kind lady she was… We are heartbroken and will miss her terribly, but she is now at peace.”

According to the Sun, Cowell is devastated by the loss of his mother. According to the source, who spoke to the outlet, Julie was incredibly close to her son, Simon. “Simon is absolutely devastated. His mum was the most beloved person in his life and they were incredibly close. But at least she got to see him settle down and start a family which was one of the great wishes of her life. Julie had been unwell for some time and she was in a home. But Simon and his brothers were in constant contact with her and the family remained very close.”

“They had been paying regular visits to her bedside and it’s been a godsend that Simon hadn’t had to do too much work in the U.S. over the last year. He’s completely heartbroken.”

As the Inquisitr reported, X Factor auditions were cancelled in the wake of Simon’s mother’s death. The auditions were supposed to start on Monday in Manchester, but Cowell is mourning the sudden loss of his mother.

A spokesperson for Syco Entertainment released a statement about the cancelled auditions. It doesn’t look like anyone knows when auditions will start, seeing as this is a very sensitive matter. “They were due to start today and carry on into Tuesday and Wednesday. Today’s have been cancelled and we have not made any decisions beyond that.”

Some users on Twitter are already pouring out their words of support for the X Factor judge. One user wrote, “@SimonCowell condolences to you and your family, your mother was an amazing lady and I promise she’s in a much better place now.”

Niall Horan, a member of One Direction, tweeted, “Very sad to hear of the passing of Julie, very nice lady! Condolences are with Simon and his family at this time…”

Another, presumably a One Direction fan, wrote, “@NiallOfficial all the love and prayers to your beloved second father.. @SimonCowell his mother is in God’s hand now..”
