Jennifer Fichter: 30-Year-Old English Teacher Sentenced To 22 Years In Prison For Sex With Students

Jennifer Fichter was sentenced to 22 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to having sex with some of her students. According to the Canada Journal, Ms. Fichter, 30, was an English teacher at Central Florida Aerospace Academy. She was arrested after on allegations that she had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old male student, and later admitted to having sex with two other students.

During one sexual encounter, Fichter even got pregnant, but chose to terminate the pregnancy.

“The case first came to light when one of the teen’s mother noticed her son’s behavior change. In that case Fichter admitted to getting pregnant by that teenager and getting an abortion. That teen’s mother spoke in court about how her son and her family are still negatively affected by the inappropriate relationship.”

Jennifer Fichter was told that even though she had sexual relations with older teens who may have “consented” to the sexual acts, her behavior was still illegal. She spoke in court after her sentencing, offering her victims and their families an apology of sorts.

“I hate what I have done to y’all. What y’all have gone through because of my actions … I wish that I could take it back. But I can’t, and my words won’t suffice,” Fichter said in court on Thursday.

Jennifer Fichter is facing additional charges in other Florida counties. The report indicates that Fichter is facing “three charges of unlawful sexual sexual activity with a minor in Hillsborough County.” It is believed that she is facing jail time for those charges as well.

According to The Globe Dispatch, the judge spoke to Fichter, telling her that her 22-year sentence will give her a long time to think about her actions.

“You’re going to have a long time to think about what you did. I trust that your faith is real, and you’ll have a long time to let your faith work in your life so that when you come out you’re a different person. It bothered me that there was references to that faith and yet there was this activity.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Jennifer Fichter’s actions stem back to 2008. She reportedly resigned from her job at an Orange County school after having “inappropriate contact” with an eighth grade student. In 2011, Fichter started her new job at Central Florida Aerospace Academy. She found herself in quite the predicament just a couple years later.
