Vanessa Williams Gets Hitched For A Third Time

Vanessa Williams, now 52, exchanged wedding vows with Jim Skrip on the Fourth of July in New York, a representative of Williams’ announced.

The wedding, was attended by friends and family though no further details, such as the time and location of the ceremony, were given.

The Ugly Betty star announced her engagement to Skrip, a former accountant, in an interview on The Queen Latifah Show in September last year. On the show, Latifah commented about Williams’ ring and the Broadway star happily talked about the good things which have come her way.

The Grammy-nominated singer was referring to her landing a role in the Trip to Bountiful and, of course, her recent engagement.

After 10 years of being divorced, Williams, the first black woman to win the title of Miss America in 1983, admitted that she was not “looking for anything.”

The singer-actress hadn’t been in a relationship for a number of years and focused on her career instead. She recorded eight studio albums and received critical acclaimed for her role in Ugly Betty.

In an interview with Madame Noire, the Emmy-nominated actress disclosed that Skrip is from Buffalo, New York, which was also the hometown of her mother.

But the couple first met in Egypt while on a cruise along the Nile in 2013. Williams was actually on vacation with her daughter that time, but made conversation with Skrip when she saw him wearing a Buffalo Sabres shirt

“You go across the world to find somebody who’s six hours away,” Williams said in an interview with CNN.

The two got along really well after a three-hour date and discovered that they had a lot in common.

This is Williams’ third marriage. Her first husband was public relations consultant Ramon Hervey whom she had three children with, 28-year-old Melanie, 26-year-old Jillian, and 22-year-old son Devin.

Their marriage lasted for 10 years.

Williams’ remarried in 1999, this time with basketball player Rick Fox of the Los Angeles Lakers. They had one child, 15-year-old Sasha, and divorced six years later.

Williams was quite secretive about her wedding to Jim Skrip. In fact, just two days before her wedding, she tweeted that she was on a road trip and wished everyone a happy Fourth of July.
