Dr. Farid Fata Sentencing: Doc Who Gave Chemo To Healthy Patients Could Get Life [Video]
Dr. Farid Fata is probably heading to jail for the rest of his natural life. The Detriot doctor will be sentenced on Monday after the court hears testimonies from 25 of his victims. Over 150 former patients came forward of the believed 500 that Farid Fata knowingly misled and harmed during his practice.
Dr. Farid Fata was once a well-respected physician. However, that changed when he was arrested in 2013. It was then learned that Farid had not been honest with his patients about their overall health. The greedy doctor would make up ailments, including various forms of cancer, for his healthy patients. He would then charge their insurance companies millions of dollars.

Fata would put his unsuspecting patients through all sorts of expensive and unnecessary treatments, including chemotherapy.
Geraldine Parkin’s husband no longer has a functioning immune system thanks to the “treatment” by Farid.
” [My husband] gets sick all the time. He has a lot of bone pain. He’s depressed.”
She intends to give a full impact statement “and look [Fata] right in the eye” the way she says the doctor looked at the trusting couple and lied.

Dr. Farid Fata pled guilty in September to 16 charges, including money laundering and conspiracy. The prosecution did not offer Farid a deal and intended to see the judge hit him with the toughest possible sentence — 175 years, or the rest of his natural life.
The defense team for Fata is hoping for a sentence that will open up the possibility that he won’t die in prison. His lawyers have asked his time in jail be limited to 25 years. Given the nature of Dr. Farid Fata’s crimes, and the hundreds of people he has hurt, the odds of mercy are rather slim.

So many families failed to get a second opinion because they trusted the opinion of a man rated “the best.” The harsh lesson in the Dr. Farid Fata case is that even if you think you’ve got a good doctor, you must ALWAYS get at least a second medical opinion, if not a third. The lives of many of these people would be different had they obeyed this simple advice.
Some men, like Dr. Farid Fata, will take advantage of the desperation and ignorance of their patients. He exploited them and their insurance companies for millions as a result.
The sentencing will take place beginning at 8:30 am on Monday. Dr. Farid Fata will learn his fate after 25 victims have each given their 10-minute impact statements.
