Lamar Odom Struggles As Life Goes On For Khloe Kardashian
Lest anyone think that all pro basketball players lead a charmed life, those folks can easily look to Lamar Odom’s stretch of bad fortune from the past several weeks and learn the truth of the matter. Odom’s close friends, Jamie Sangouthai and Bobby Heyward, passed away in separate incidents in June. Sangouthai’s death reportedly came as the result of a drug overdose and Heyward’s passing followed just a few days later. Us Weekly Magazine cited sources who claim Heyward’s passing occurred as the result of a prescription drug overdose. Heyward’s final Instagram post captured a moment he’d shared with Odom and Sangouthai during better times.

Although Odom didn’t publicly via social media regarding the passing of his friends, Us Weekly spoke with a source who indicated that Lamar is struggling to make sense of the deaths as well as trying to determine if there’s a message for him in the unfortunate circumstances, given his own history of substance abuse.
“He feels like it could have happened to him,” the source said. “This is a huge wake-up call for him. It has really shaken him … Lamar is beside himself.”
Perhaps adding insult to injury, Lamar Odom is being reminded of the demise of his marriage to model and reality star Khloe Kardashian through media coverage of Khloe’s new romantic pursuits. As reported by Inquisitr, Kardashian now appears to be an item with another NBA star, James Harden. Harden is a guard for the Houston Rockets who has been romantically linked to Amber Rose, an archrival of the Kardashian clan.
It’s worth noting that while Odom and Kardashian are split, their divorce was never finalized. The Daily Beast points out that Khloe has previously expressed reluctance at ending things for good. Conflicting reports from star-watchers don’t help to clarify the situation for curious types, either. While some tabloids suggest that Lamar has resisted overtures of support from his estranged wife, RadarOnline unequivocally asserts that he heard from both Khloe and her mother Kris after Sangouthai’s death.
By themselves, life-changing events such as the death of a friend or the end of a relationship can be a serious drain on any person’s mental health and emotional well-being. Considering that Odom is contending with his own history of personal demons as well as a double-shot of tragedy and a high profile breakup, it’s clear that he will need a lot of support and encouragement from family and close friends in the coming weeks and months. Whether or not Khloe Kardashian figures prominently in his support system is an critical decision for Lamar Odom.
