Malia Obama Has Summer Job As Intern On Hit TV Show ‘Girls’ [Video]

Kudos to Malia Obama for snagging a summer job — as an intern on Lena Dunham’s hit HBO series Girls. The presidential First Daughter was spied by Page Six on the streets of Brooklyn wearing cut-off shorts and a relaxed tank top while assisting the show’s crew.

The series, which usually films in Williamsburg, New York, was in the city to shoot a portion of an episode.

According to Page Six, Malia will be an intern on the set of the show, which was in Brooklyn to film Aurora Ristorante, “a hipster haven on Grand Street,” reports the newspaper. Although it wasn’t clear whether she will be in the program as well or just work as an intern, she was seen hanging out with Dunham — the pair have been spotted sipping drinks together.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, this isn’t Malia’s first entertainment job, she reportedly worked last summer on Halle Berry’s Extant. At the time, the news about Malia working as an intern on Berry’s set made news not because Obama was working but because First Mom Michelle caused a ruckus with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who, along with the rest of the world, apparently wasn’t supposed to know about the internship.

“Good, you weren’t supposed to (know),” Michelle Obama told Garcetti.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the staff on the Extant set was “sworn to secrecy” about their presidential intern, although it’s not really clear why, since such a large secret would be leaked anyway. The news hit the street when entertainment mag the Wrap leaked the news, citing intern Malia Obama as “an individual with knowledge of the production,” reports the New York Daily News.

The Extant staff reportedly were charmed by Malia, and Camryn Manheim told Entertainment Tonight that the intern “is graceful, and lovely, and just charming and delightful… she’s pretty remarkable. When you get hoisted into the spotlight like that, and you grow up under the scrutiny of everybody, and to come out being so charming and in charge of herself, with so much poise, it’s beautiful.”

It’s clear Malia is charming the crew on Girls as well.

Lena Dunham, who’s reportedly a fan of Malia, wished her a happy birthday via Twitter last year, writing, “Happy Birthday Malia Obama! Let’s all hope we’re as elegant as you when we grow up.”

Malia Obama is just days away from her 17th birthday, although there’s no word how the intern will be spending her birthday.
