Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Comeback Film ‘Jazbaa’ Is A Bollywood Remake Of K-Movie ‘Seven Days’

Last year, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made major international movie headlines when it was reported she would make her comeback in the Bollywood movie, Jazbaa. Fans were ecstatic to find out Bachchan would be returning to film, but there would also be criticism too, specifically on her weight. Back in November 16, 2011, Bachchan gave birth to her daughter, Aaradhya. After some time went by, it become noticeable that Bachchan wasn’t losing her baby weight which eventually led to ridicule and controversy. Even now, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is being criticized for her weight resulting in Jazbaa director Sanjay Gupta to silence them.

At this moment, Jazbaa is in the middle of production and it seems everything is continuing on smoothly. However, there is one detail about the Bollywood film fans of Korean entertainment might find interesting. Jazbaa is a Bollywood remake of the K-movie Seven Days.

According to KdramaStars, the Bollywood film Jazbaa (which translates to “Passion”) is a remake of Seven Days, a hit K-movie filmed eight-years-ago starring Yun Jin Kim and Park Hee Soon. In the original film, Yun Jin plays Yoo Ji Yeon, a lawyer who has never lost a case. While participating in field day activities at her daughter’s school, her daughter goes missing. Later that day, Ji Yeon receives a call from her daughter’s abductor. The abductor gives Ji Yeon instructions to defend a five-time convicted felon who is appealing his convictions. The trial is scheduled to go on for seven days and Ji Yeon has to prove the felon’s innocence within that time. If she fails, her daughter dies.

Just from the official movie trailer of Seven Days, shown above, it looks like Jazbaa has a lot to live up to. Thankfully, the Bollywood remake is spearheaded by a phenomenal actress/director team claimed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s husband, Abhishek Bachchan, as reported by KpopStarz.

“I am very excited to see Aishwarya in Jazbaa. It should be a lot of fun. It’s a great script. I love Sanjay Gupta as a director and I think they’ll make a fantastic team, and it’s always wonderful to see her on screen.”

For those who don’t know, Sanjay Gupta is a very popular director in Bollywood. Also, Gupta has experience in filming a Bollywood interpretation of a Korean film. Zinda (which translates to “Alive”) is partially based off of the 2003 K-movie, Oldboy.

Jazbaa is currently in production and reportedly had a viewing at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. As for an official release date, it is expected to hit the box office on October 9, 2015.
