Jennifer Garner Called Ben Affleck Her ‘Soul Mate’ Prior To Divorce

When things were good with Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, they were great, or at least that’s what it seems like. As Inquisitr previously reported, Affleck and Garner had been in therapy two years prior to announcing their plans to divorce, but before that, Garner told her friend that Ben was her “soul mate.”

According to Peoplemagazine, who spoke with Garner’s friend, Elizabeth Cary Lantz Brown, “I remember her telling me Ben was her soul mate.” At the time Garner was convincing her friend to have children. “She said, if your husband it truly your soul mate, you need to have kids together.”

Affleck and Garner met in 2001 while filming Pearl Harbor, and then collaborated again for the 2003 film Daredevil, but it wasn’t until 2004 that the couple started dating. The pair got married in June of 2005 by Garner’s Alias co-star Victor Garber in Turks and Caicos. They have three children together Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.

Ben and Jen announced a day after their tenth anniversary that they were divorcing with a joint statement.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.”

Garner’s friend, Brown, is singing the same tune that most tabloids are, and that’s that despite their troubles in their marriage, the two are excellent parents, and that it is their main focus in their lives.

“They’re really great parents. They’re really involved. Our conversations weren’t centered on her life as a movie star but her life as a mom. She loves her work, but it’s nothing compared to her kids.”

As the Inquisitr reported, Ben and Jen were in a trial separation for ten months before announcing their divorce. During that time, Affleck stayed in hotel rooms. It’s said that Affleck’s busy career put a strain on their marriage. Other sources said that they were too different and weren’t on the same page as a couple.

In order to co-parent, the two will share joint custody of their three children, and Affleck will live in another house on the couple’s property so that he’s never too far away, despite his busy filming schedule.

Ben Affleck’s first public appearance after this news will be at San Diego Comic Con to promote his new film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
