‘See You Again’: Carrie Underwood Covers Wiz Khalifa Hit For Mash-Up

Singer Carrie Underwood covered Wiz Khalifa’s hit song “See You Again” during an impressive mash-up performance Sunday.

Just Jared reports that the performance took place during the third day of the 2o15 Big Barrel Country Music Festival in Dover, Delaware.

The simple fact that the 32-year-old country singer would cover the hit song of a 27-year-old rapper is impressive enough. However, Underwood took it one step further by combining the emotionally stirring song with one of her own hits.

Carrie Underwood mashed Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth with her own 2012 hit single with the same name.

In the video footage from the mash-up performance, Carrie even starts to rap some of the first verse from Wiz Khalifa’s hit song, which essentially became the theme song for the blockbuster hit Furious 7.

Even though she crossed genres temporarily in order to create the mash-up, Carrie Underwood did not have to go very far. Both songs cover the same general topic — the hope of reuniting with a dead loved one in the future.

Quite a few people have responded favorably on Twitter to Carrie Underwood’s decision to cover a Wiz Khalifa song as part of her “See You Again” performance.

Perhaps Carrie Underwood and Wiz Khalifa should consider recording the mash-up in the studio and releasing it as a duet single. Chances are it would become a huge hit for both of them.
