Joni Mitchell Can Talk, American Icons Send Wishes, David Crosby: “Just To Make It Clear, Joni May Have Been Intubated” [Video]

David Crosby took to Twitter to clear up some misconceptions about his statements regarding Joni Mitchell.

Fans, including Hollywood celebrities, who are concerned about Mitchell’s welfare also expressed their well wishes to the iconic singer, who Crosby called “probably the greatest living singer-songwriter.”

In an interview with the Huffington Post about his current solo tour, Crosby spoke about Joni and his concern for the health.

“I have not spoken to her. To my knowledge, she is not speaking yet,” Crosby said of Mitchell. “She is home, she is in care, she is in recovery. How that’s going to go, we don’t know yet. She took a terrible hit. She had an aneurysm, and nobody found her for a while. And she’s going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.”

However, David Crosby later posted on his Twitter page further information about why Joni is unable to speak. “Just to make it clear Joni may have been intubated or had a tracheotomy which would have kept her from speaking we don’t know if she is able.”

A statement approved by Leslie Morris, Joni’s conservator, released on Joni Mitchell’s official website said the singer is now able to speak: ” The truth is that Joni is speaking, and she’s speaking well. She is not walking yet, but she will be in the near future as she is undergoing daily therapies. She is resting comfortably in her own home and she’s getting better each day. A full recovery is expected.” The statement also called reports that Mitchell cannot speak “speculative,” reports Digital Spy.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Mitchell is still under medical care, although current reports tell us Joni is able to talk. “She comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected,” Crosby said in his Huffington Post interview, which was days before David told the world Mitchell was intubated.

“I love her. She was my old lady at one point. She’s probably the best of us, probably the greatest living singer-songwriter…. We’re all holding our breath and thinking a good thought, hoping that it’s going to turn out okay,” David said.

Showing the impact that Joni had on a generation, American icons, David Crosby included, tweeted their concern for Joni. Actor James Woods posted on his official Twitter page: “A remarkable talent silenced, not forever we pray,” and author Margaret Atwood echoed Woods’ sentiments, telling Mitchell, “Very best wishes for #Joni.”
