WWE News: Dolph Ziggler Comments On His WWE Contract Status

Several months ago, there were rumblings that Dolph Ziggler’s WWE contract would be expiring this summer and that he would not be re-signing with the company. Talk of Ziggler’s current status with WWE really started to heat up over the last week or so, when it was reported a second time that “The Show Off’s” contract would be expiring soon, and that he wouldn’t be re-signing with WWE.

Shortly after it was reported that Ziggler wouldn’t be returning to WWE, many people believed that he would be heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling or TNA Impact Wrestling, and, while those two promotions would definitely be suitors if Ziggler ever did become a free-agent, it appears that they’ll have no one to chase, as Ziggler is clearly staying with WWE for the foreseeable future.

Fans did believe the reports of Ziggler leaving WWE after his contract came to an end because he has been extremely vocal about his position in the company, and that he — along with the fans — felt that he deserved a better spot. Over the last year or so, Ziggler has been in a better position in WWE, but, he’s still not one of the top guys like most fans — and Ziggler himself — believe he should be.

On Friday, Ziggler finally addressed the rumors of his WWE contract expiring, and the rumor that he had just re-signed with the company via Twitter. You can see the tweet below.

Ziggler also talked with The Boston Herald and explained why he re-signed with WWE.

“I mean, it feels like I started here, I should end my career in the WWE. I feel like they like having me around and I love working here, so it would be really hard to walk away.”

Prior to Rusev’s injury, Ziggler was put into one of WWE’s main storyline’s — the Lana and Rusev relationship, with Ziggler being Lana’s newest “boy toy.” Granted, Ziggler was going to be on the receiving end of a Rusev beating, but, he was still going to be featured in — what was at the time — WWE’s hottest angle.

Ziggler is still involved with Lana, but, with Rusev being injured, the heat for the angle has died down quite a bit. However, when Rusev recovers from his foot injury, the plan is still for him to crush Dolph Ziggler. After that, Lana may move on to someone else, who will be Rusev’s next opponent.

Of course, Ziggler still wants to be in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture, and, so do most of the fans. But, the fact that he re-signed with WWE shows that he’s not all that frustrated with his current position in the company.
