An accused animal rapist in South Africa has been hospitalized after a run-in with a group of shepherds that caught him defiling a goat.
The man’s name has not been released, nor have any of the participants, but there are currently reports from five world news outlets, as well as Opposing Views, that the man was attacked after a shepherd heard a “frantically bleating” goat in distress, the News Nigeria reports.
AllAfrica’s Genevieve Quintal adds that the attack happened in Sharpeville, and that provincial police in Gauteng have confirmed.
Department spokesperson Major Mack Mngomezulu had this to say.
“The man undressed himself and then caught the goat, strangled it and started to have sex with it… The goat started to scream and then a shepherd shouted for assistance… Members of the community came to the shepherd’s aid and assaulted the man… He was rescued by police who took him to the hospital.”
Representatives from the Vereeniging Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) told the press that the goat was initially alive when they arrived at the scene, but died later from its injuries.
The carcass will undergo a post-mortem examination to determine the exact nature of its death.
Mngomezulu confirmed that the accused animal rapist was still in hospital care for now, but would be taken into police custody once he was well enough to be detained.
The SPCA released this statement regarding how they plan to move forward at that time, via News24.
“Animals are not sexual commodities and this is a sick and barbaric crime that took place,” the agency said, adding that they would work to ensure the perpetrator is not granted bail.
Stories like this are so hard to believe when you read them that you find yourself doing a double and triple take to make sure it’s not some kind of a joke article.
Unfortunately, it isn’t the first time there has been compelling evidence that this sort of thing actually happens. For starters, one of the news outlets reporting on the incident actually used an image that is so disturbing that it can’t be shown. Click here if you want to be haunted.
(No idea if this is from the actual incident, though it’s being reported as such.)
If that’s not enough, there is the story of Andy Loyola, whom the Inquisitr reported on several months ago.
(Essentially the same thing that happened above, but only with a cow. And Loyola was allegedly a multiple offender.)
Do you think an animal rapist like the men mentioned here is too sick for jail time? And do you think this sort of thing happens in the U.S.? Sound off in the comments.
