CoverGirl Announces Star Wars Makeup Collection

Sith Ladies and Jedi, prepare to add “easy, breezy, beautiful” to your knowledge of the force.

Nerdist reports that iconic drugstore cosmetics company CoverGirl is launching a Star Wars themed makeup line to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Star Wars fan site Rebel Scum broke the news. It seems that Rebel Scum received several promotional pictures on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens limited edition collection.

The pictures reveal that the line will include CoverGirl Outlast nail polish in rich dark and more subtle light shades to reflect the dark and light side of the force. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens line will also feature lip stick and 15 collectable mascaras with quotes from the Star Wars saga on the tube. The line appears to also include makeup sets based on looks designed by acclaimed British makeup artist Pat McGrath. Each set also appears to include a coupon for $5 off the purchase of a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

CoverGirl hasn’t officially announced the Star Wars: The Force Awakens collection yet, so details are as scarce as water in the Tatooine desert, but CoverGirl is no stranger to collections based on high profile films, so it’s not hard to guess what’s in store.

CoverGirl released the Capital Collection in 2013 to mark the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The collection featured lip gloss, mascara, nail polish, and nail decals in a bold color palette that might be found in the Capital district of Panem. While nail decals don’t seem to go with the rough and tumble world of the Star Wars universe, expect a few new shades of CoverGirl’s Outlast nail polish, and perhaps a pink or neutral shade of lip gloss for those that gravitate toward the light side.

For the release of Pitch Perfect 2, CoverGirl released new shades of the Outlast nail polish, Ink It! by Perfect Point Plus, and Colorlicious Lip Lava and Lipstick products. So, expect new shades and looks that capitalize on older products already available. In fact, the pictures released by Rebel Scum reveal at least six Star Wars: The Force Awakens inspired looks — three inspired by the Light Side, and three inspired by the Dark Side.

Unfortunately, the question of when Star Wars fans and makeup mavens can get their hands on the limited edition collection isn’t as simple to answer. The coupon suggests that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens line will debut sometime in October or November, ahead of the December 18 release date of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
