Jim Parsons Celebrates Marriage Equality By Posting Pic With Todd Spiewak

Jim Parsons took to Instagram Friday to celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that made same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states. Despite the positive message, Jim likely won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon.

Parsons’ “Flashback Friday” picture was of himself with his partner Todd, and included the following caption.

“#fbf to some random day when there WASN’T marriage equality in the USA. GO AMERICA! GO SCOTUS! Congrats to ALL of us! #love”

Parsons and Spiewak have been together for 12 years but have chosen to remain unmarried. Last year on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the Big Bang Theory star was non-committal when asked if marriage was in his future.

“I don’t know. That’s a hard one. You get used to your life as it is.”

Earlier this month on The View, Parsons elaborated on his feelings about marriage.

“I don’t know. I mean, I kind of think so but there’s no date in the book or a ring on a finger so I don’t know.

“I’m 42 now and for much of my adult life that wasn’t really a possibility. And I’ve grown more interested in the idea and I’m certainly supportive of the notion. And if I were to get married [and that] would help the notion in general, even that might be enough to make me want to do it. My own personal interest in it has never been that high.

“For both of us, we’re roughly the same age, and we didn’t grow up with that as a possibility. Though we have a very happy life.”

Parsons and Spiewak live in the prestigious Gramercy Park neighborhood in New York. They currently own four adjoining units in a condo complex that was converted from rental units in 2009. The couple first bought into the complex in 2011, getting a good deal on the 911-square foot unit by paying $1.8 million. As of late last year, their total investment in the building was $8 million for four units: two adjoining condos and the penthouses directly above.

Parsons is spending his summer off from The Big Bang Theory performing in An Act of God. His performance has been extremely well-received. His Big Bang Theory co-star Mayim Bialik even came by one evening for a visit.
