Bella Thorne Spills The Dirt On A Huge ‘Scream’ Spoiler [Video]

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Scream.

MTV released a preview of their upcoming television adaptation of Scream. The preview, which consists of the first eight minutes of Scream‘s premiere episode, stars Bella Thorne as Nina Patterson.

As revealed in the Scream trailer Bella’s character has been modeled after Drew Barrymore’s Casey from the original 1996 Scream feature film, meaning that Thorne’s career as a Scream cast member has been short-lived. Yes, Nina Patterson dies.

This came as no secret to Scream’s Facebook fans, however. The plot of Scream‘s premiere episode was known and revealed back in December of 2014, with fans showing an interest in which role Ms. Thorne would play.

“I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series,” Bella responded, revealing that fairly prominent spoiler for anyone to have seen the original Scream film.

Whether or not this really constitutes a spoiler may be a matter of opinion, since neither Thorne nor Scream series creator Jill Blotevogel had made any efforts to conceal that introductory plot development. In fact, Blotevogel felt that the scene in question may have been the only way to advance Scream‘s story.

“A great opening kill was definitely needed as the jumping off point to show.”

In a new interview with ET Online, Bella revealed what may be an even bigger spoiler from a creative standpoint. It seems the show’s producers weren’t planning on doing away with Ms. Thorne as easily as the killer dispatched the Nina character. In fact, Bella was wanted for the starring role of Emma Duvall, a role declined by Ms. Thorne.

“It just didn’t end up working out relocation-wise. I just couldn’t do it,” said 17-year-old Thorne. “I’m too young to relocate [to Baton Rouge, La., where Scream is filmed].”

Bella freely admits that the fear of leaving home kept her from pursuing that starring Scream role. In fact, Thorne found thoughts of leaving her family to be the deciding factor in which roles she would ultimately accept.

“I love my mom and my brother. Although that sounds very immature, I’m still a kid at heart,” Bella added. “I like being home in my bed and I can’t lose my brother just yet. We’re best friends.”

Still, the Scream production team found a role suited perfectly for Bella and, as it turns out, Ms. Thorne has joined an exclusive club that had been reserved for some of Hollywood’s most notables. Bella Thorne joins Ms. Barrymore, Jada Pinkett Smith, Mike Epps, and Kristen Bell in becoming the select few actresses to have starred as the killer’s first victim to be eliminated prior to the opening title credits.

“I could only be so lucky to be in a room of iconic people,” Thorne said. “I honestly had no idea [it was a big deal]. To me, it was a really fun scene.”

Ms. Thorne did tease just one other spoiler for Scream fans. It seems we may not have seen the last of Bella Thorne on MTV’s Scream. As the actress points out, there are always flashbacks.

“I can or can’t say that I’ll be back… maybe or maybe not.”

Scream premieres on Tuesday, June 30, on MTV.
