Jimmy Fallon’s Gruesome Hand Injury Cancels ‘The Tonight Show’, Says Ring ‘Almost Ripped My Finger Off’

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon suffered a rather painful-sounding hand injury Friday morning, forcing the cancellation of Friday’s taping and leaving fans concerned about the 40-year-old comedian, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.

At about 6:30 p.m. Eastern time Friday afternoon, Fallon tweeted a photo of his heavily-bandaged hand.

So what happened? Jimmy gave somewhat of an explanation in his next tweet.

Ouch! Fortunately, Fallon’s going to be OK, his rep told the Los Angeles Times, but he required minor surgery on his left hand.

Extra TV reports that Fallon was in his apartment when he suffered his hand injury. Unfortunately, Fallon’s hand injury meant that Friday’s taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon had to be cancelled. That put fans who had tickets — which have to be booked months in advance — out in the cold, so to speak. Which is too bad — Friday’s episode was to include Benicio Del Toro, Taylor Kitsch, and comedians Penn & Teller. However, NBC tweeted that the show would be working with fans to get them to a later taping of the show.

Meanwhile, on social media, fans wished Jimmy well, although a few took some minor jabs at his plight.

As of this post, it is not clear when taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will resume.
