Bill Cosby: Janice Dickinson Discredits Her Own Rape Allegations

Over the past several months, Bill Cosby has been inundated with allegations that he drugged and raped women at different times throughout his career, which spans four decades. Though Bill Cosby has denied the allegations and remained tight-lipped about the whole affair, saying only that he would not dignify the allegations with a response, his lawyers have filed a lawsuit against model Janice Dickinson, one of his supposed victims.

According to People, Dickinson came forward in November of 2014 with the claim that Cosby had drugged and raped her in 1982. Her 2002 autobiography, however, paints a very different picture. In No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World’s First Supermodel, Janice writes that Bill Cosby shut her out of his hotel room.

“[Cosby] gave [her] the dirtiest, meanest look in the world, stepped into his suite, and slammed the door in [her] face.”

Martin Singer, Bill Cosby’s attorney, highlights the contrast between Dickinson’s stories.

“The only story she gave 12 years ago to the media and in her autobiography was that she refused to sleep with Mr. Cosby and he blew her off. Documentary proof and Ms. Dickinson’s own words show that her new story about something she now claims happened back in 1982 is a fabricated lie.”

The lawyers also reference Dickinson’s participation in the reality show Recovering Celeb Addicts, Reformed Liars as evidence that she admits to being a liar, saying she is “complaining that she has been branded a liar, when, in fact, lying is part of her ‘brand.'”

No charges have been filed against Bill Cosby. One might wonder why all these women are coming forward after the statute of limitations has passed. Actress Phylicia Rashad, who played the wife of Bill Cosby on the wildly popular The Cosby Show as well as a subsequent sitcom entitled simply Cosby, has spoken out in defense of the comedian. She believes the allegations are part of an effort to destroy the otherwise inspiring long-time career of Cosby, the Washington Post reported last January.

“What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.

“Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV, and it’s worked. All his contracts have been canceled.”
