‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Star Jamie Dornan Should Get An Emmy Nod For ‘The Fall,’ According To ‘X-Files’ Star Gillian Anderson

With the Emmy nominations for 2015 slated to be announced next month, Gillian Anderson believes that Jamie Dornan should be on the list for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Although Dornan is well-known for his role as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, the X-Files alum stated that it was Dornan’s work on The Fall that should be rewarded.

“Definitely Jamie Dornan, I would say,” Anderson told the Herald when asked who she thought should be nominated for an Emmy award. “Definitely in the last scene that we have together, there’s an interrogation scene, and it’s the first time that the characters have been face to face.”

Dornan plays the lead role as serial killer Paul Spector on the The Fall. For her part, Anderson plays detective Stella Gibson, who spends her time tracking down Spector in the series. The Fall, which is produced by BBC, is gearing up for its third season, which will continue the story of the Northern Ireland serial killer.

Although Anderson expressed her thoughts on just how good Jamie Dornan was in the series, especially his charter’s interactions with her own, Dornan admitted that landing the role of Spector on the show was something he hadn’t expected.

“I definitely hadn’t done enough work, really, to warrant being given that opportunity,” Dornan stated in a recent interview.”I’d never even done a small part in a BBC production, never mind being given a lead in one.It was a big punt for them to take.”

Meanwhile, Anderson might be taking home an award of her own for her work on The Fall. Anderson’s last award-winning performance was on the X-Files back in the ’90s.

Speaking of the X-Files, the show is getting ready for a reboot that will see Anderson reprising her role as Agent Dana Scully. David Duchovny is also set to appear alongside Anderson as Agent Mulder, with the show expected to air sometime next year.

Concerning the new season of the X-Files, Anderson recently told the Wrap that the series is the best she’s ever seen.

“I would say that it’s probably the best writing that I have ever witnessed for television, and the episodes are incredibly complex with well-drawn characters, the likes of which I haven’t seen,” she explained.

Season 3 of The Fall, starring Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson, is expected to air sometime next year on BBC. Fans can catch the first two seasons on Netflix.
