Who Is British Actor Tom Holland And Will He Make A Good Spiderman?

When Tom Holland was named as the new Spiderman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there were instant questions over his identity. As a young British actor, he is not the most well-known individual, but does that mean he would not make a good Peter Parker? It is worth looking at just how much training he has, and at some of the performances he has done in the past.

He may be new to Hollywood, but Holland is not new to acting. The 19-year-old played the title character in Billy Elliot the Musical, which was a big hit on London’s West End. According to Huffington Post, he took to the big screen when he appeared in The Impossible in 2013. That role led to him winning various awards, including at the Young Artist Awards, London Film Critics Circle Awards and Empire Awards.

As a performing student, Tom went to a school that has given us many celebrity names. Brit School is the same place of education of Adele, Jessie J and Leona Lewis. It suggests that he has had some good training to get his foot on the ground, especially if he went on to perform on the iconic West End stage.

It looks like Tom Holland is a big fan of doing his own stunts. He has had training in hip hop dancing, and he has been regularly filmed on home video jumping off high walls and out of windows. It could mean that he will do his own spider stunts.

There are a number of people complaining about the decision to award the role to Tom. Some, like one writer for The Guardian, thinks that it is time to bring in different races for the iconic roles. However, Stan Lee says that the roles were originally created to be white, straight males. These were characters created during the 1950s, and it is only understandable that he wants his original characters to remain true to the comics. Marvel can always create other characters to fit the equality movement.

Holland will make his Spiderman appearance in Captain America: Civil War, which is supposed to be released next year. He will act opposite Chris Evans and Robert Downey, Jr., who will likely bring up his young age during the movie. From there, Peter Parker fans will get to see him in his own movie afterwards. Easing Tom Holland—and fans—into the role may be the best option after so many other versions of the character have been shared in recent years.
