WWE News: Shawn Michaels Says He’d Wrestle Daniel Bryan If He Decided To Have One More Match

It’s been a little over five years since “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels called it a career in WWE, and since his retirement, Michaels has said that he will never return to the ring, and, so far, he’s stuck to it. He even turned down an offer from WWE to return to the ring, and wrestle in front of 100,000 people at next year’s WrestleMania, which he mentioned on Jim Ross’s Ross Report a few months ago.

When people talk about possible dream matches that could still take place that involve Shawn Michaels, two come to mind. One of them is Michaels taking on The Rock, and the other is Michaels taking on his former student, Daniel Bryan, which was a match Bryan was hoping would take place back at WrestleMania 30.

One thing that Daniel Bryan and The Rock have in common, is that they were both screwed out of the WWE Championship by Michaels when he was the special guest referee. It happened to The Rock during the very first episode of SmackDown back in 1999, when Michaels hit The Rock with the Sweet Chin Music, and helped his buddy Triple H retain the WWE Title. The same happened to Bryan in 2013, however Michaels helped Randy Orton retain the title instead of Triple H.

During an interview with Bill Apter, Michaels was asked about who he would like to face if he had to choose someone on the current WWE roster, and, of course, Michaels said that he would wrestle Daniel Bryan. As of right now, Daniel Bryan isn’t exactly active, as he’s dealing with career-threatening concussion issues, but, that is the match that almost everyone would want to see if “HBK” ever came back to have one more match.

Michaels did note that he’s extremely happy with how his career ended, and that he’s enjoying his retirement. He also said that he wouldn’t have retired from the ring if he wasn’t ready to, basically saying that he wasn’t forced out of WWE.

There are some fans who will read too much into Michaels saying that he would wrestle Daniel Bryan if he came back, and they will expect the Bryan vs. Michaels match to happen at WrestleMania 32 next year. Of course, you never say never when it comes to the wrestling business, but, it’s pretty much a sure thing that we’ll never see Michaels have another match, no matter how sweet of a deal WWE offers him.
