Taylor Swift Not Headlining Super Bowl 2016, But Still Being Considered

Will Taylor Swift follow in Katy Perry’s footsteps and headline the Super Bowl next year? Rumors are swirling that the 25-year-old singer is in talks to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2016. Taylor has already had an incredible year, thanks to the success of her 1989 album and world tour. Headlining the Super Bowl would be a great way to cap off her year.

Several reports are claiming that Swift may perform at the 2016 Super Bowl, following in the steps of Katy Perry. According to a report by Radar Online, Swift and her team are “working out the final details.” There is one small problem that’s preventing Swift from not performing.

“Her main holdup is performing the year after Katy Perry did it, but she also feels it’s the right way to close out the ‘1989’ chapter of her career.”

As it’s been reported, Swift and Perry have an alleged feud, although neither have outwardly denied or confirmed their spat. Perry dissed her enemy during her 2015 Super Bowl performance when she had her backup dancers dressed in Swift’s polka dot swimsuits. Swift reportedly penned the song and music video “Bad Blood” after her arch nemesis.

The Radar report says that Swift already knows who she wants as her performance director. But as everybody knows, thanks to Katy Perry, Swift will have to pay to perform.

“She’s just waiting on the financials from the NFL before signing on the dotted line.

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who’s being considered to perform at the Super Bowl. The NFL is also considering Britney Spears, according to a Hollywood Life report. An insider source says that nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and fans may have to wait until later this year to find out who will perform.

“Absolutely nothing has been finalized or decided for the halftime show yet. Taylor has been asked and the NFL is awaiting an answer from her. The rumblings on Britney Spears’ involvement are still true and many other ideas and offers have been floating around. They are looking to finalize whomever will be performing by October.”

E! News denied the rumors during its “So True, So False,” segment on Thursday, June 25. Host Giuliana Rancic said that the rumors about Swift performing at next year’s Super Bowl are so “false.” According to the news channel, Swift has not been asked to perform at the Super Bowl. The NFL is also considering a variety of performers to celebrate Super Bowl 50. In addition, Swift already has an endorsement with Diet Coke, which could conflict with the NFL’s Pepsi sponsor. Fans will have to wait and see if there’s any lick of truth to these rumors.
