Did Selena Gomez Leave Tori Kelly’s Album Party With Ed Sheeran Because Of Justin Bieber?
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez attended the same party for the briefest of moments last night, before the “Good For You” songstress quickly left with mutual pal, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
The rumor mill is currently having a field day with what sounds like a nuanced scenario. In reality, there may be many reasons for Selena’s swift exit.
The former Jelena went to The Nice Guy in West Hollywood on Thursday to celebrate Tori Kelly’s album release bash for Unbreakable Smile, which Sheeran contributed to.
“Selena came with Ed and left with him shortly after Justin arrived,” a source tells People magazine. “Justin and Selena definitely saw each other, but they did not engage with one another.”
Certainly, the 22-year-old actress-singer would have known her ex-boyfriend would be at the star-studded party, as the Biebs and Tori are both managed by Scooter Braun.
Sheeran had just played the Hollywood Bowl the same night. Other guests who rocked up included Meghan Trainor, Rixton, Cody Simpson, Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello and Ally Brooke, Ashley Benson, and more.
After the pop princess and Sheeran left The Nice Guy through a back exit and got into a black SUV, the duo were photographed buying snacks at a Seven Eleven before going back to Selena’s L.A. home.
For his part, Justin posted numerous fun clips with Cody, Matt Healy, and Debby Ryan on Snapchat from inside the hotspot.
When the crooner stepped out of the bash at around the same time that SelGo and Ed left, video footage shows he and The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye listened to the Biebs’ new music in his ride outside for a few minutes, before returning inside.
Jelena fans will remember the Latina starlet and Canadian superstar recently hung out — albeit by accident — at a church social dinner. The former sweethearts were seen smiling in a Snapchat story filmed at the soiree.
A source subsequently told E! News that the pair were “definitely not back together.” They also revealed Justin and Selena are no longer “awkward” together despite their complex, on and off romance.
So, what’s the coup with last night’s ducking and diving?
A possible reason could be Selena and Justin still have issues between them. The other? Both stars are both aware of the rumor mill’s tendency to fabricate or exaggerate a simple evening out into a tangled web of are they or aren’t they, and may have wanted to nip that in the bud.
During press rounds in New York City to promote her new single “Good For You,” SelGo talked about frustrations with false or hyper-critical media reports about her personal life.
The starlet also revealed her upcoming album will contain “hints” referring to her romance with Justin.
Selena’s music video for the song came out today and follows the June 22 release of the single and numerous teasers.
Speaking with On Air With Ryan Seacrest Monday, Selena said the main focus of her new album is her “journey” and “rebirth” as an artist.
As for chatter speculating that the starlet is interested in Sheeran? Reportedly, there is no chance of that.
Meanwhile, Justin — who also guested on the same radio show in April — admitted a lot of the material on his new album is “inspired” by his former girlfriend.
The heartthrob is currently in the charts with his Jack U collaboration “Where Are U Now.”
