Rainbow Flag Should Be Next To Go, Says Conservative Commentator

The Rainbow Flag, or LGBT Pride Flag as it is also known, has been the latest “offensive” symbol to come under attack after the furor sweeping social media involving the Confederate flag.

Conservative pundits, many of whom are upset at the targeting of a flag that they say represents Southern Heritage instead of racism, have tried turning the tables on the LGBT symbol, calling it bigoted towards Christianity.

One commentator in particular — Bryan Fischer of the Focal Point radio show — had this to say.

“If we are going to remove symbols of oppression from our culture, if we come to the point where we say any flag that represents bigotry, any flag that represents hatred, any flag that represents slavery or oppression needs to be removed, then I want to suggest to you that the next flag to go ought to be the rainbow flag of the Gay Reich.”

Fischer also likened the Rainbow Flag to that of the Nazi’s, and said that it stood for “slavery and oppression and bigotry and prejudice and bias.”

He was joined in this opinion by Breitbart‘s John Nolte, who had this to say.

“Under the banner of what is dishonestly called a gay pride or gay ‘rights’ flag, hate, fascism, and intolerance has festered for years, specifically against Christians and conservatives. Under this banner of hate, people are outed against their will, terrorized out of business merely for being Christian, bullied and harassed for thoughtcrimes; moreover, ‘hate crimes’ are being manufactured to keep us divided, Christians are refused service, death threats are hurled, and Christianity is regularly smeared as hate speech.”

He also sent out this tweet.

There were many others on Twitter and other social media sites that agreed with the two pundits.

Of course, the sentiment got a lot of pushback as well, especially from the Advocate‘s Trudy Ring, who called the attempts “homophobic hatred.”

But what do you think, readers? Has America jumped the “I’m offended” shark with the effort to stamp out the Confederate flag? Is that what opponents, who are targeting the Rainbow Flag as well as other widely embraced symbols, are trying to say, or is it, in fact, “hatred”? Sound off in the comments section.
