Gotye And Kimbra Perform “Somebody That I Used To Know” On Saturday Night Live

Australian singer Gotye took to the Saturday Night Live stage this weekend where he sung his surprising hit Somebody That I Use To Know.

Gotye was joined on the SNL stage by the songs collaborator Kimbra although they were missing the body paint from their weirdly addicted song.

Somebody That I Used To Know has been on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the last 13 weeks in a row and its music video has received more than 160 views on YouTube.

While Gotye has just managed to break in the United States he has created quite a bit of buzz around his music in other parts of the world. In Australia the singer’s new hit sat a top the music charges for eight weeks, taking the record from Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply” which held the record since 1997.

Since fans fell in love with the song it has been featured by the likes of Fox hit TV series Glee and sung by contestants on both The Voice and American Idol.

Gotye has also managed to take the No. 1 spots in New Zealand, Ireland and Austria. In Poland the song has been No. 1 for 16 weeks in a row and his album in that country went platinum after just one day.

Not only did the artist perform Somebody That I Use To Know he also sang Eyes Wide Open and he was on hand when Andy Samberg and Taran Killam mocked his now famous video and its strange use of body paint.

Here’s the Gotye performance on Saturday Night Live:

Not bad for a song that was almost never recorded, that would have been a tragedy for the singer who’s new success is based off the songs addictive lyrics and creepy musical anthem.
