WWE News: WWE NXT To Go Up Against New Japan Pro-Wrestling And Ring Of Honor?

WWE NXT has been one of the best gifts to pro-wrestling since the Attitude Era. The mix between great characters and great wrestling is what the wrestling purist wants to see. The talent in NXT alone is considered some of the best in the world, and they aren’t even the main roster talent. We’ve seen that once an NXT star ends up on the main roster, they change the game in a major way.

It makes sense to think that WWE NXT can go against the best promotions outside of WWE, as well.

According to Daily Wrestling News, there is a rumor going around that WWE NXT is set to be in the same area as WWE SummerSlam later this year. Triple H teased this on Twitter recently.

WWE likes to make a big deal out of it’s second biggest event of the year, and usually there has been a SummerSlam axxess show, as well as some live action here and there. It was thought that they would just have NXT stars in the area for a meet-and-greet. Now, is it said that WWE might run an NXT show similar to what they did in San Jose during WrestleMania week.

This time, it appears that WWE is wanting to do a WWE Network special that would air the night before SummerSlam in Brooklyn, New York. If they go with this, WWE would be going up against New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring Of Honor shows that are set to occur in the area that very same night.

WWE did the WWE NXT show in San Jose to affect Indy events in the area for WrestleMania week. So, it is not shocking that they would do the same for SummerSlam week.

This is the first time in a number of years that WWE has done WWE SummerSlam outside of California. While it makes sense to have shows during SummerSlam week, normally ROH works the east coast on the regular. So, they aren’t going to follow WWE to the west coast any other time, other than WrestleMania. They would never go up against a big WWE event like SummerSlam, which is why they do their big shows on Fridays and Saturdays most of the time just in case they might want to do a show during a WWE PPV week.

The same is said for many Indy shows. Due to the huge amount of love WWE NXT is getting, it would be foolish to miss a WWE Network special for them when they are always awesome. This means many fans will bypass an Indy event to see WWE both Saturday and Sunday. So, the Indy shows may have to move a night back in order to accommodate if WWE decides to do this.
