Man Chooses Beagle Over Girlfriend In Epic Craigslist Ad

A Virginia man’s devotion to his pet beagle has gained worldwide attention after a Craigslist ad rehoming his girlfriend went viral. The Daily Mail reports that the Roanoke man titled the ad “Free to any willing home,” before providing a laundry list of the unnamed woman’s flaws. His reason why has pet lovers all over the internet smiling.

The advertisement starts off like many rehoming ads on Craigslist, with the author stating that his girlfriend does not like his pet beagle.

“My girlfriend does not like my beagle Molly. So I have to rehome her.”

However, as the paragraph continues it becomes increasingly clear that the man is not talking about his beloved dog at all. Instead, the entire ad is focused on rehoming the girlfriend who demanded that he get rid of his “best friend.” Of course, if readers couldn’t figure out the ad by the tone, the finishing line drove the point home.

“So….. Anyone interested in my 30 year old, selfish, wicked, gold digging girlfriend? Come and get her! Me and my dog want her rehomed ASAP!!”

The Daily Mail is reaching out in hopes of finding the author of the viral Craigslist ad, and it’s probably because the writers at the paper want to know what the girlfriend’s reaction was to the advertisement. At this point it’s hard to tell if this Craigslist post was completely serious, or if it was just some playful fun between a couple. It could very well also be a hoax. After all, the internet is home to numerous fake “feel good” memes and stories designed to drive home messages.

This isn’t the first time a Craigslist ad has gone viral for being either hilarious, clever or both. In 2013 an ad looking for a wedding date went viral because it was so bizarre and funny. The ad came complete with photoshopped images of two brothers as muscular mythical centaurs. Another dog-related Craigslist post also went viral recently, when a woman posted her frustrations after rescuing three unneutered, abandoned dogs from the street.

Sometimes viral Craigslist posts are more tragic than funny (unless you like dark comedy), however, such as a recent ad that attracted the attention of police in Georgia. A woman was apparently trying to sell her unborn child, advertising it as “guaranteed white,” to the highest bidder. Much like the beagle post and many other Craigslist ads, authorities aren’t sure whether it’s real or a hoax.
