Fox News Gets Rid Of Sarah Palin Again — Why?

Looks like Sarah Palin has been sacked by Fox News again.

A representative of Fox News confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the network did not renew the former Alaska Governor’s contract as contributor. The two parted ways on June 1.

Palin signed up with the network as a contributor in 2010 after she lost her election bid alongside presidential nominee John McCain in 2008. People watched Palin for her candid commentary and the network racked in the ratings.

Fox News even had a camera installed at Palin’s residence and Nexis made a total count of 40 primetime appearances on Fox News by Palin in 2012.

Palin’s contract with the network was said to be valued at $1 million annually, a salary that made Palin the highest paid political expert on the top-rated cable news channel, according to CNN Money.

However, the network had a history of not renewing Palin.

In 2013, Palin voiced her discontent with Fox News and criticized the network for failing to include her in its coverage of the Republican National Convention.

Months later, Fox News terminated Palin but asked her to sign a new deal with them in the same year.

Fox News CEO Roger Ailes commented that he rehired Palin because he wanted the former Governor to get the chance to give her side and annoy those who dislike her, to which Palin agreed.

In an online post, Palin claimed that she took the offer because she was thinking along the same lines.

However, why was she sacked again by Fox News?

A poll conducted last year showed that 54 percent of the voters have grown tired of Palin and would rather not see her join in political discussions, Politico reported.

Fox News had became aware of Palin’s dwindling poplarity among viewers. The former Alaska Governor started appearing less on cable and the time difference with her home state didn’t help either.

CNN Money commented that Palin’s shine has dulled.

Yahoo! News listed other possible reasons for the 51-year-old politician’s sacking: her jumbled speech in Iowa early this year as well as her feud with Bill O’Reilly, Fox New’s most important star.

Nonetheless, Palin is still listed on the network as a contributor and will go on to make irregular guest appearances on Fox and Fox Business.

She will also still be busy with her show Amazing America with Sarah Palin airing on the Sportsman Channel.

Though her popularity has diminished, she continues to be a formidable public figure as she remains popular in social media with over 4.5 million Facebook fans and 1.15 million Twitter followers.
