Jason Bourne Finds His Leading Lady In Alicia Vikander

Fans were excited that Matt Damon would return to the Bourne series, and now it looks like the wheels are actually in motion. The fifth installment of the Bourne series has found its new leading lady, and it’s none other than Alicia Vikander.

If you don’t know who Alicia Vikander is by name, odds are you’ve seen her in something. She’s been racking up roles since 2012 in projects like, A Royal Affair, Anna Karenina, Testament of Youth, Seventh Son, and the recently released Ex Machina.

She can also be seen in the upcoming film, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. It may be unrelated, but with the news that Alicia has said yes to the fifth Bourne movie, comes another bit of news that she has to walk away from Assassin’s Creed.

That said, it doesn’t look like anyone’s crying about Vikander dropping from Assassin’s Creed.

Another bit of news to come out of the next Bourne film is that actress Julia Stiles has signed on for the film, as well. Stiles has played the character Nicky since the very beginning. She’s appeared in The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, and will now appear in the fifth installment with Matt Damon.

Matt Damon had left the Bourne series and, in 2012, Jeremy Renner resurrected the series in The Bourne Legacy as Aaron Cross. Right now, there’s no plans to delve back into that world, but it doesn’t look like Renner is against it. Renner spoke about the odds of Bourne and Cross coming together for the ultimate spy film.

“I think it will take creatives to bring them together, which is what I think is ultimately the plan. I love the idea of Greengrass and Damon, or whatever it might be. Let them be adversaries, let them become buddies. Whatever the heck it might be, them coming together would be a pretty tremendous thing.”
