Sarah Palin And Fox News Go Their Separate Ways

The beautiful partnership that was Sarah Palin and Fox News is no more. According to Politico, Fox News has decided to end Sarah Palin’s contract with them. Palin has been a staple since failing to nab the spot as Vice President in the 2008 election on John McCain’s ticket.

Although she won’t keep her usual gig with Fox News, Palin is still expected to make a slew of guest appearances on Fox Business, in addition to related cable and networks affiliated with Fox. That said, it doesn’t look like Sarah Palin has any intentions on slowing down. As it stands right now, Palin has a show on the Sportsman Channel and still participates in making speeches.

So, why did Fox News part ways with Sarah Palin? Well, Politico suggests that she’s just not relevant as she once was when she first signed on. “When Palin was at her zenith, she made frequent appearances, and Fox installed a camera at her house. But executives consider her less relevant now, and her appearances were sometimes hampered by the vast time difference with Alaska.”

This isn’t the first time Fox News and Sarah Palin have parted ways. Palin was let go back in 2012, but then months later she was picked back up as a paid contributor in a new deal which lasted her until this month. During her time as a contributor, Palin appeared on the Fox Business Network’s daytime and primetime slots, and made appearances on the popular program Fox & Friends.

At the time her return was announced, Fox Chairman Roger Ailes said, “I’ve had several conversations with Governor Palin in the past few weeks about her rejoining FOX News as a contributor. I have great confidence in her and am pleased that she will once again add her commentary to our programming. I hope she continues to speak her mind.”

Sarah Palin had this to say about Fox when her contract was picked back up: “The power of Fox News is unparalleled. The role of Fox News in the important debates in our world is indispensable. I am pleased and proud to be rejoining Roger Ailes and the great people at Fox.”

Although enthusiastic Fox viewers might be upset to see Sarah Palin go, there are others who are all for the change, and those who just don’t care either way.
