‘Big Brother’ Winner Rachel Reilly Has This To Say To Potential Floaters In The New Season

Rachel Reilly is a reality show veteran. She has two seasons of Big Brother and two seasons of The Amazing Race under her belt. She participated in all four series with her now-husband Brendon Villegas, whom she met during Big Brother 12. That year, she finished 9th, but came back to win Big Brother 13.

Now, Rachel is offering her advice to the incoming contestants of Big Brother 17. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she was asked what she would say to the new season’s potential floaters.

“Grab a life vest!”

Of course, any Big Brother fan could predict her response. Rachel made that very comment to Kristen during her first Big Brother season. It was often repeated, and made for many an internet gif.

Reilly went on to expand on her comments to The Hollywood Reporter.

“They drive me insane. They act like it’s summer camp and they’re useless. It sucks because, there are lines of people that go to all these castings so if you’re going to be a floater let somebody else be on the show.”

Of course, the “floater” phenomenon tends to work on Big Brother, at least for awhile. With no strong alliances, floaters usually aren’t a target, and increase the number of weeks they escape eviction.

THR also spoke with past Big Brother winners Derrick Levasseur, Jordan Lloyd and Dan Gheesling, who also gave their thoughts. Levasseur was not bothered by the floater phenomenon.

“You need to go in there and play your own game. If you miss opportunities, it will be difficult to make your own moves. You want to be able to float throughout the house, but you don’t want to be a follower.”

Lloyd said she understands why Big Brother has many floaters, but was clear she sides with Rachel.

“Stick to an alliance and quit going back and forth because it’s annoying.”

Gheesling is ok with floaters, to a point.

“There’s going to be people there who float, and unfortunately, it’s inevitably part of the game. I just hope they don’t make it to the end. As long as a floater doesn’t win again, I’m happy.”

As for other Big Brother 17 news, Rachel Reilly is apparently not happy with the rumor that Amazing Race stars Jackie Ibarra and Jeff Weldon will round out the new cast.

Big Brother 17 premieres at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24 on CBS.
