Headmistress Took 13-Year-Old’s Virginity After Letting Him Watch Her Bathe, 20 Years Later She Is Found Guilty

Anne Lakey, a 54-year-old headmistress from Stanley, County Durham, is facing jail time after being found guilty of 13 counts of indecent assault. The charges come over twenty years after the incidents took place, resulting in her dismissal of duties from her position at the school. Praised for her ability to turn around underperforming schools, Lakey’s accusations were a shock to the community. One of her victims sent an email to the school she worked at in 2012, outlining the sexual abuse she coaxed him into. He claimed that Lakey took his virginity after she allowed him to watch her bathe. At the time, he was excited that he had sex before his sixteenth birthday, but later realized it set him up for a rocky life.

The actual abuse took place in the 1980s, when Lakey became flirtatious with a young student, according to the Daily Mail. The unnamed victim was not a direct student of Lakey, but was student at the school where she taught history. He and a group of boys would often visit her home. As time went on, the boy would show up at her home alone. Her flirtations began soon after, and led to a game of “dare” in which the boy was allowed to touch her breasts.

The young boy would talk to Lakey as she bathed, on occasion. At one point, while still in his school uniform, the young boy was watching her bathe and she decided the time was right to take his virginity. The relationship grew to the point that she would call him in sick to school, allowing the two to spend more time together, according to BBC News. The sexual offences occurred over the course of three years and targeted at least three young boys during that time.

The boy that reported the abuse to the school admitted to leading a troubled life, and felt it necessary to share his story so other boys did not fall victim to Lakey’s predatory ways. Although the boy suffered from the incidents, Lakey went on to have a successful career and was able to make a name for herself in the education community.

Lakey was granted bail after being convicted of the sex crimes, but only as an “act of mercy” because her sentencing on Wednesday was described by the judge as being “inevitable.”
