Boston Celtics Trade Rumors: Big Trade Offer Made To Philadelphia 76ers By Boston
Boston Celtics trade rumors revealed a big offer to the Philadelphia 76ers. These Celtics trade rumors indicate the team is working hard to move up in the 2015 NBA Draft. A report from the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday (June 23) revealed that the Celtics had extended a trade offer to the 76ers that included several different draft picks and players.
The Celtics trade offer was reportedly point guard Marcus Smart, as well as the No. 16 and No. 28 picks. In exchange, the 76ers would have given up forward/center Nerlens Noel and the No. 3 overall pick. It would certainly shift things in the 2015 NBA Draft, but it seems like the 76ers weren’t really interested in that move. It’s not too surprising, as they have heavily invested in Noel and look to get another good player with the third overall selection this year.
As previously reported on the Inquisitr, the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are both trying to trade out of the bottom of the first round. The Lakers want to deal the No. 27 pick to not have two first round selections (the Lakers also select at No. 2), while the Celtics are working hard to move up on the draft board. There is no shortage of teams that want to make trades as draft day approaches, but none of the rumors have led to anything just yet.
There are certainly quite a few Boston Celtics trade rumors out there, showing that team president Danny Ainge is trying to steer his team back into the postseason. It’s not exactly a worst-case scenario if the Celtics get “stuck” with two first-round picks, but figuring out a way to move up into the top three selections would be a huge win for the struggling franchise. An NBA mock draft from the Boston Globe on Tuesday has the Philadelphia 76ers going with Ohio State point guard D’Angelo Russell at No. 3. They then have the Celtics taking Virginia small forward Justin Anderson at No. 16, and Louisville power forward Montrezl Harrell at No. 28.
While there is nothing that appears imminent for the Celtics, it is clear that there are a lot of discussions taking place behind the scenes. The team has a lot of assets (young players and future draft picks) to work with, so all these Boston Celtics trade rumors might actually lead to something during the 2015 NBA Draft. Fans will want to tune in to ESPN to watch it play out, because there could be some exciting maneuvering.
