James Horner’s legacy of work, including the Academy Award-winning score to Titanic, has embedded him into the very fiber of Hollywood, and celebrities touched by his passing made their feelings known on Monday through their Twitter feeds.

Russell Crowe, Debra Messing, Ron Perlman, and Richard Marx were some of the first celebrities to react.

Celine Dion tweeted her own heartfelt tribute as reported by the Inquisitr.

“Rene and I are deeply saddened by the tragic death of James Horner. He will always remain a great composer in our hearts. James played an important part in my career. We will miss him. We offer his family and friends our deepest sympathy.”

A fan tweeted a photo of this moving personal memorial.

Ironically, just last month, the French fan site Horner Film Music tweeted this link to a project James worked on for the National Geographic documentary Living in the Age of Airplanes.

National Geographic posted an interview on April 21, 2015, taken for the documentary premiere.

Horner discussed his love of airplanes with reporter Andrew Freund during the interview.

“I am an airplane fanatic, and so, whenever there’s an airplane movie, or a flying movie, I always look into it, and that’s what happened in this case, and Brian [Terwilliger] asked me to do the music, and I agreed to it.”

The beloved composer stated that deeper down, the movie is about how flying has made everything “so much closer,” and made traveling around the world possible in just a couple of days, whereas before it would take lifetimes to just move just a couple hundred miles.

When asked how he evokes the glory of flying in music, James shared that he addresses it thematically and that there is sort of a “spiritual quality” about the documentary that he tries to “mirror” in the music.

There is no doubt that this beloved artist has richly imbued his thematic talent within the Hollywood mainstream, and directly into the theaters and homes of American moviegoers through a countless string of scores and songs for movies for fans of all ages. Those include Avatar, An American Tail, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, and Braveheart.

These projects brought him into close contact with big names in the entertainment industry, and those who were touched by the man and his music have been giving back in their own quiet words heard the world over across the web.

Russell Crowe worked on the film A Beautiful Mind, released in 2001, with Horner, and it is this film that Crowe chose to mention with his homage for the beloved composer and condolences for the family.
