Lisa Lampanelli: Pounds Off Paraded, Comedienne Lisa Credits 107-Pound Weight Loss To Bariatric Surgery [Video]

Lisa Lampanelli has become an expert in shedding pounds after having weight loss surgery. The comedienne’s weight loss, now at 107 pounds, occurred after she had the procedure, but Lisa admits she struggled with her weight for years, reported Yahoo.

Now 53, Lampanelli confessed that she once weighed 248 pounds. But at that size, she hesitated before having surgery. What convinced her to try that method to take off the pounds?

“When I hit 50, a friend of mine had had the surgery. He said his doctor was a really warm, great guy. I figured I’d meet with him once. My husband, at the time, and I went in. We met with this doctor in New Jersey. We loved his energy and his vibe. He said, ‘How many people do you see at 70 years old who are as overweight as you guys are?’ We each had 100 pounds to lose. I was like, ‘Wow, am I going to cut my life short for food and emotional eating? Forget it.’ We signed up that day.”

However, although she has taken off 107 pounds and changed her life, Lisa emphasizes that it takes intense work to keep off the weight.

“Everybody focuses on a simple fix. Weight loss surgery is a tool but it’s not an easy, simple fix,” emphasized Lampanelli.

In order to keep off the pounds, Lisa feels that she needs to ask herself repeatedly whether she’s eating because of true hunger or because of her emotions.

“It’s about the emotions. It’s not a trick. It’s not about willpower. It’s about every time you’re hungry: is it about emotional hunger or physical hunger. This is not a sound bite way of life, it’s an every day, every meal, wondering if you’re eating your feelings or if you’re eating for nutrition,” added Lampanelli.

And the comedienne is echoing the words of other celebrities who are candid about choosing weight loss surgery to shed pounds, reported E! News.

Among those famous folks who, like Lisa Lampanelli, took off the pounds after having procedures are Sharon Osbourne, Al Roker, Roseanne Barr, Randy Jackson, and Star Jones. Most recently, EJ Johnson lost more than 100 pounds and got advice from Star prior to his own procedure.

Magic Johnson’s son sought tips from Star after he learned that she had weighed more than 300 pounds at one point. Jones shed half of her weight through gastric bypass surgery.

As the Inquisitr reported, EJ Johnson also emphasized that weight loss surgery is only a tool.

“It was a tool,” stated EJ. “And I think that it was something that really helped me jumpstart the life I definitely wanted to lead.”
