Jill Duggar’s Husband, Derick Dillard, Looks Totally Different After Surgery, And Fans Are Concerned

Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, recently spoke at the ALIVE Christian Music Festival, and their presence at the event was a big deal for Duggar watchers — it was Jill and Jessa Duggar’s first major public appearance after going on Fox News to talk to Megyn Kelly about being molested by their older brother Josh.

According to E! News, Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard, Jessa Duggar, and Ben Seewald were all speakers at the ALIVE festival in Ohio on Saturday. Josh and Anna Duggar were also scheduled to appear at the event, but they understandably backed out — it would have been incredibly awkward for Josh to speak alongside two of his molestation victims.

Jessa and Jill Duggar weren’t the only speakers who had a good reason to feel nervous about getting up onstage in front of a massive crowd. Derick Dillard recently got braces, and anyone who has rocked a mouthful of metal knows that public speaking can be a pain. However, Derick is all smiles in a photo that Jill Duggar shared on her Instagram page.

As you can see, Derick is looking a lot different these days. He’s growing his hair out, and his face looks a bit wider and shorter. This is because he didn’t just get braces a few weeks ago — he also underwent major mouth surgery. According to People, he had his palate expanded shortly after Jill gave birth to their first son, Israel. Below you can see a comparison of Derick’s face before and after surgery.

Many of Derick’s Instagram followers were alarmed by his new look.

“Derrick [sic] you really look unwell,” one fan wrote. “I know you’ve been through a lot of stress and it shows but the calm comes after the storm so hopefully being at Alive shows that you all still have a lot of support. I’m sure even a haircut would be good for you but you probably couldn’t even leave your home to go to the salon.”

“Derrick [sic] looks very sickly,” another wrote. “Bags under his eyes are not normal.”

“Derick doesn’t look good. He looks a little underweight. Praying that he’s ok,” one concerned follower commented.

A few fans also told Derick that he needs to act like a Duggar by taking more pride in his appearance.

“Derrick [sic] needs a shave and a haircut!! Have some pride in your appearance!! God needs you to look respectful!!”

“What’s going on Derick, you have let yourself go since you married. Time to sharpen up man.”

Luckily for Derick, Jill Duggar doesn’t care that he looks different — she’s still enamored with her man, and she couldn’t wait to help her husband celebrate his first Father’s Day. Late Saturday night, she shared a sweet photo of Israel and Derick trying to get a little rest. Jill also revealed that she feels very blessed.

Jim Bob Duggar has been criticized for the way he responded to Josh Duggar’s confession that he was molesting his sisters, but Jill Duggar wants the world to know that she still thinks that her father is deserving of praise. She showed her love for Jim Bob by sharing a Bible verse and a photo of the 19 Kids and Counting patriarch holding baby Israel.

It’s unknown whether Jill’s family will get to stay on TV — TLC still hasn’t revealed its future plans for 19 Kids and Counting. However, there’s a possibility that Jill might not be around to film many episodes of the show, anyway. As the Inquisitr previously reported, there are rumors that Jill and Derick are planning to head to Nepal for a mission trip, and they’re taking baby Israel with them. Derick recently left his job at Walmart, so there’s definitely some big changes going on in the Dillard household.
