Kelly Osbourne Dolezal joke said to be in bad taste

Kelly Osbourne Dolezal Joke ‘Too Soon’? Instagram Image Draws ‘Fashion Police’ Slams

Kelly Osbourne mocked Rachel Dolezal on Instagram Thursday in a move that even her followers are saying is “too soon.” In the picture, the daughter of Ozzy (John) and Sharon Osbourne sported a curly hairstyle much like that of the recently outed NAACP President.

Others have stated that the joke contradicted recent events in which Kelly had slammed her former Fashion Police co-host Giuliana Rancic for her remarks about Zendaya’s hair at the Oscars. For many, it was a hypocritical joke in bad taste when Osbourne added the caption #CallMeRachel.

Rachel Dolezal had been outed by her parents for actually being white and leading the NAACP in blackface and a weave. The internet has been in an uproar ever since realizing, especially in this highly sensitive racial era, that African Americans were being represented by a Caucasian.

With all of the recent news of white police and a man being called the “demonic Macaulay Culkin” shooting and killing unarmed black people, Dolezal’s reveal was less than embracing. The black community has been adamant about ridding itself of the proverbial crosshairs ever since the death of Trayvon Martin.

Kelly Osbourne’s Dolezal joke didn’t help, only adding fuel to the controversy.

Several Instagram users pointed out the problem with her joke.

“This is [okay]… But Giuliana’s comment about Zendaya made [you] quit ‘Fashion Police’… Hmmm.”

“@kellyosbourne and you say you are against bullying… #hypocrite.”

According to Fox News, Rachel Dolezal broke her silence about her own scandal on the Today show.

“I was drawing self-portraits with the brown crayon instead of the peach crayon, and black curly hair. I do take exception to that because it’s a little more complex than me identifying as black or answering a question of, are you black or white?”

Kelly Osbourne’s Dolezal joke picture might not be as big an issue for Rachel as the recently leaked collection of partially nude images from a 2012 photo shoot, says New York Daily News.

Do you agree that Kelly Osbourne’s Instagram joke was in bad taste following her Fashion Police departure?
